As others have noticed, the collar, which the lids screw into, crack over time. We bought in 2020 have cracked in 2023-2024. Not a very good return on longevity. the collars were not cracked after they were installed. We kept the buckets in the basement and did not double stack them. We have not had any problems with the other sized Gamma 2 lids. We had to purchase replacement lids which included the lids. No one sells just the collars. Guessing Consolidated Plastics is the manufacturer of Gamma 2. Based on the cracked collars and the cost to replace, these are too expensive.

Well-constructed and easy to use. This is a perfect size for medium-to-large families for storing bulk foods and baking essentials, and compliments the larger five-gallon size.

These were just what I needed to store bulk beans, rice and other food products in the pantry. Lids screw on very securely. Expect that these will last a lifetime for what I am using them for which is home storage. These likely would not survive use on a battlefield or on an overland expedition, but will sit on a pantry shelf for a long, long time.

I bought these for storage of dry foods like rice, flour, beans etc. to be used with oxygen absorbers. I like that they are 2 gallon, as I can break bulk purchases down into smaller quantities and not have to open a huge container every time, exposing the contents to the air over and over. I also like that there aren't any labels or stickers on them. One comes already "set up" but you will have to install the ring on the rest with a rubber mallet.

Ok so it’s not so easy to get the lids on but once done these smallish storage buckets are fantastic.Initially I stood on the lid the first time I tried to attach lid to bucket but unfortunately I also snapped the threads of the easy lid screw top down. It took a large screwdriver and a good deal of stubborn persistence to free it. So, that didn’t work,The way that works is this: separate the two lid parts, press the ring to the rim on the bucket on one side lean hard until it seats ( you’ll be able to tell) work your way around the circle seating the lid as you go. With four inches to go, you’ll think the lids don’t fit the buckets. It takes some force but you then push the bucket rim inward while leaning on the top of the ring with the heels of your hand. It will snap into place. Then you spin in the center threaded disc of the lid.Fill and label.I think separating the two parts of the lid makes the ring part more flexible.I love the screw top lids, it’s going to make regular access to my pantry items so much easier.

First of all, I am probably going to spend the time to correct this issue myself. However, the manufacturers of ALL of these gamma buckets need to add an extra step after they come out of the mold. The buckets all have a seam(s) and/or excess plastic in the groove where the rubber seal is supposed to seat. This renders the bucket neither air nor water tight. A simple added step of milling the groove to ensure a nice tight fit would solve the issue. And it is a big enough issue to add this step to the manufacturing process.I decided not to buy any further Gamma-type bucket lids until this issue is resolved. Now, related to this 2 gallon bucket specifically. It is noteworthy that a 2 gallon bucket will not receive a standard bundle of spaghetti as the spaghetti is longer than the bucket is tall. Now some of you may be saying to yourself, why not just break the noodles? I'd rather have the extra protection of leaving them in their original packaging and just placing them into the bucket. Finally, for bulk dry goods storage, this is a really good size as they can be lifted overhead easily. Also, when using, smaller amounts of food supply is opened up to the elements at a time.Cheers!

Just as described. Sturdy buckets with twist on, airtight lids--great concept!! Thought we were sent the wrong buckets then realized that some needed to be assembled...lol!! They were a little stubborn at first, but we finally snapped the top rim on.
