Super handy in the summer & holds up well. However, all of my reusable water bottles are 2 tall or wide or have a weird top. So only good with water bottles & even then it sort of shifts to much you have to continually take it out to drink.

I was on a weekend long trail ride--about 25 miles. This stupid thing has a plastic ring on top that just snapped in half within the first two hours of riding--nothing but walk/trot on flat ground. When we stopped, I saw that it was hanging upside down and banging against my horse. Since the only tie on the bottom is on one edge--it's just about useless. We were able to salvage some of the baling twine that we used to tie the plastic ring and were barely able to push a strand through the fabric loop on top--that the plastic ring was seated into. We adjusted some clips and tied the thing back on. Well, the baling twine was too thin to hold up, so after another couple hours the thing was snapped and hanging again--by the corner edge.What a useless design!!The only thing I can say good about this thing is it keeps the drink cold, and secures the bottle into the bag well. But that doesn't mean a whole lot if the whole bag falls off your saddle!! The velcro strap it comes with is just about useless too--it's too long and doesn't tighten down well--so the whole thing flops around. What an expensive waste of money!!

I would prefer if it could be used on the right or left of the saddle horn. Needs another attachment to hook onto saddle

The top strap is a bit difficult to wrap around the horn, could be a little bigger. The bottom tie doesn't tie tight and does allow for some jostling when trotting/cantering. If you're horse is a bit nervous, it may bother them because it is big and bumps some. It's big enough to fit 2 bottles.However, it works great for carrying water and you can easily remove the water on the go and put it back in the bag. My 8 year old had no problem using it.

I don’t normally write reviews but if you are anything like me when it comes to horse gear you will research the options until you can finally settle on one that seems to work for others! We all know we are hard on our gear! I ride western and I mostly do day trail rides. What I needed and was expecting out of a product was to carry a decent sized water bottle without flopping around or getting in the way of me controlling the horse. I’ve tried SEVERAL water bottle holders and none can compare. Cashel has nailed it with this one! I use this in conjunction with the cashel cell phone holder. The Velcro is very secure holding the bottle in the holder in place, the attachment to the pommel is secure and then I tie it off to one of the many rings on my saddle. The thickness of insulation is perfect and I like that it is formed around the bottle. Keeps drinks very cold! This isn’t bulky or awkward like I have found some to be, it lays on the horse quite well and I honestly don’t notice it while riding. So if you are on the hunt for the perfect drink holder for day rides or longer if you have another pack for other things just go ahead and buy this one! You won’t be sorry! The cashel brand as a whole I’ve found to make quality products that hold up. This was worth every single penny I paid for it and then some! (Water bottle not included just wanted to show what it looks like with a bottle in it.)

I've had this water bottle holder for years on my saddle and I purchased it as a gift for someone. I love it! It keeps the water cold and easy to access bottle on my western saddle. I ride every weekend and spend as much as 5 hours in the saddle, so this is great to keep my water at arms length!!! The only thing is the black is starting to fade, but it still does what I need it to do. Definitely a goo buy!!

I have this carrier strapped to my endurance saddle. It works wonderfully! I prefer to use tall, squeeze bottles (like Smart Water) and they fit perfect. A smaller, normal sized water bottle fits fine too. You can probably fit two normal sized bottles in it. I love the solid bottom, velcro top. I looked and looked for a perfect water bottle carrier, read reviews and finally selected this one. I've owned a couple different carriers and have been unhappy with the others.
