Pole starter broke and failed within the first two weeks of use. Need I say more?

I used this as a fast replacement on a Stihl 044. On the plus side, it was relatively cheap and it fit and served to put the saw in use. On the negative side, it is not of the same quality as the original Stihl equivalent; the pawls are not quite big enough to work consistently. I will be soon replacing it with the proper fit Stihl item.

Most important it fit perfect. If you release the handle to soon the plastic handle chipped. The original handle is rubber. I just replaced the chipped handle with the old rubber handle

Bolted up nicely to my Stihl 460 and the rope frayed by the third pull. The recoil mechanism failed on the 4th pull. Total junk, bad design. Cheap elements used in the recoil and rope entry point. Too bad because the casting, powder coating and fit were top notch. I guess $12 seemed a little too good to be true.Edit: So I took it completely apart and replaced the rope, put a bushing in the rope entry point that won’t fray the rope and reworked the pawls and springs. It works but I don’t know for how long. I had to use weedeater gauge starter rope because the spool is so small. Will work in a pinch. I’m adding a star because it will start the saw after being modified. Cheers

Most awesome!great price,arrived on time,which is much appreciated, as I was excited to get this saw running again,took it out of box the minute I got it,direct fit,easily bolted right on ,I was cutting firewood with it,15 minutes after it arrived!have used it quite a bit since..works better than the original 1 did!the return spring feels more sturdy and returns all the way back in with a snap..very pleased with this purchase
