This is the first time I have used a large porcelain palette of this type. It offers a mixing area that will be resistant to drying paint. There are some paints (e.g., some forms of acrylic gouache) that will stick to plastic but which will not adhere to porcelain.This one is hefty and well made. Lots of porcelain and enough weight to keep it down on the table. My one caveat is that the bottom is not flat so it has a bit of wobble. (I can fix this by putting some sandpaper on my machinist's granite slab).

Smoopth ceramic tray. I swear, cermaic must be what substituted for silicone in many applications, in a prior time. The tray is about 10x6 inches. It is a convenient size to fit on a table next to an art journal or paper. It is weighty as you would expect from a ceramic palette. Smooth finish that is easy to clean by wiping off, or rinsing under a faucet. I tend to work and leave paint on the palette to start my next painitng, or make a sketch or decorate correspondence. This provides a large mixing area if I want to go in new color directions and still keep what I last worked on. (Can you tell, I am a fan of this ceramic palette?) It seems to be level across the surface, I am not seeing any particular puddling when I have paint all over the surface. Fully finished all over except for the ridges that support the bottom of the tray and rest on the table.
