Your cart is empty.When using screw-in studs on a factory cylinder head it is necessary to machine down the stud boss equal to the thickness of the new stud's jam nut plus the guide plate thickness. The Stud Boss Cutter from COMP Cams comes with a universal arbor that also acts as a pilot/guide and fits into the original stud hole.

Worth every penny, I needed to mill down stud bosses for guide plates and screw in studs. Made a fixture to hold a head on my drill press, cut 16 bosses down in less than a half hour.

Take your time and keep the tool straight...make sure to use a good drill press if going that route...i tapped my holes on one head not thinking it might effect the pilot...was not a good idea to do this, plus there will be less material to thread if i would have waited to thread...oh, using a cutting oil really helped in keeping tool sharp and cool...i would venture to say this tool can be used without much machinig experience if the pilot has a non threaded hole and lube is used...hope someone else will not be as naive as i was, but now i know better...
