My vehicle is an '85 AMC Eagle, but the review info will be relevant for any AMC 258 built for AMC/Jeep year models from '82-'86, as well as several other years & configurations. The product page details say these are a fit for my vehicle, but they're substantially larger than the OEM retainers and don't fit in the valve springs (neither the OEM springs being replaced, nor the new replacement springs — Melling VS-970). The image attached to this review shows a side by side comparison, this item on the left and an OEM retainer on the right. Note: I didn't take the time to check and see if the retainer height was the same as OE, but given the recess in the top surface which is not part of the OEM part geometry, as well as the aforementioned dimensional incompatibility, I'm going to assume it's also different. It's a shame, since at a glance these seem to be cleanly machined, quality parts. I would've been happy to use them in my build, but now I have to go searching for another option.
