After 6 years or so of fairly frequent use, I noticed my Mackie Thump 15s were sounding distorted when playing piano music. My first thought was there was overload distortion somewhere in the audio chain, so I tried adjusting the levels on my laptop, mixer, and speaker but to not avail. All other music and voice sounded fine. My next guess was that the high-mid drivers were worn out, so I replaced them both with this one. The originals were partly made of plastic, which makes me thing this replacement driver really is an upgrade. I don't notice a huge difference, but piano music now sounds crisp and clear. Mission accomplished!
