As soon as I picked it up, I was like, "oh he'll yeah, this is awesome." It just has that heavy tool feel. Yet it was clean, attractive, and well-designed. Feels like a premium product. If using it for crushing stuff on a jobsite, it wouldn't need any changes. I use it for working out & therefore cannot comment on its real-life durability, though it certainly feels sturdy to me, for what that's worth. For fitness use, my weak quarantine hands are so soft & I'm OCD about fine textural differences, so I felt the handle was slightly too rough. If you are even 20% tougher than me, or if you wear gloves, you wouldn't notice. But it took me like 3 minutes with 120 grit sandpaper, just doing literally like 3 quick brushes across each section of wood, to make it *perfect.* Now the handle is still grippy with great texture, yet smooth and nice for sliding my hands along it quickly during exercises. I bet if you just used it it would eventually also wear down like this.Tl;DRLooks good, feels good, great for working out / fitness (can't comment on jobsite usage as I'm a soyboy office worker)

I want to say straight up, yes it's Made in the USA. I don't work for the company and I am throwing in the photos so you can see this thing is a real hammer with real meat on the bone. First, it's heavy. If you've never picked up a hammer that weighs over 5lbs, this might be a bit too much for what you need. I wanted it because I knew it's one of the finest you could ever get for yourself domestic. This thing is 8lbs in the head. It's not a 6lb head on a half pound stick. You can put this thing on a scale and it is freaking heavy. It is a solid 8lbs in the head with another pound in the solid hickory handle which is 36" long. At 6'3" it's up to my hip. Holding it, your arms will get tired. Swinging it, you'll lose control of your body unless you know what you're doing. This is a two handed tool and when you swing it at something - hold on for dear life because it is no joke. If it rings in your hand and it stings, calmly set the tool down and assess. Because the tool is harder than you. Whatever it hits is going to get all the force of your swing, the distance between, gravity if you're swinging it downward, and the weight of the head at the end of it. Hundreds of pounds of force by then so do be careful with this thing. You could seriously hurt yourself. This thing will take blocks out of the side of a building like a hot knife through butter. The engineering is gorgeous and the machine they used to cut this is professional. The retainer is a steel wedge, also made in North Carolina. It's not a plug or a stopper and a bunch of glue. This thing is a beast, and probably one of the coolest pieces I've ever collected. STAMPED USA with the council maker mark on the top. I have sheared the actual face off a hammer before. This is solid, and will probably outlive the veteran writing this. Do yourself a favor, treat yourself and stop buying things that make you unhappy. Get this instead and stop buying that imported stuff. You know it's junk. No, this isn't a value brand, so what? It's worth the price. This is real pride, real quality. And the result is right here in my hands. I am so proud of this.

Light enough to work with for long duration's, while being heavy enough to give you some added smashing power. Highly recommend you purchase this Quality Tool.
