Not a fan, doesn’t put out much heat. Hard to see its benefit, like the warmth of a candle in Siberia.

I installed this in my chicken house on a wall on exposed studs. I hung it using 2 supplied screws and also used 2 screws/nails on the wall towards the bottom just to keep the plate off of the wood walls. I figured it was a good idea to keep the hot plate from touching anything flammable. So far it is great!

Every chicken owner should have one of these heaters!! I love it for my darlings!! It keeps them warm and happy on cold winter days. It has two heat settings; low and high. I have only had to use warm as my coop is not huge. I feel it contribute to the water not freezing (it use to freeze before I had this). It is very easy to hang. Also, it's just fun to tell people your chickens have a flat screen, wall mounted heater it their coop!

Hangs up like a mini flat screen. It gets pretty hot to a bare hand on the working side but not on the wall side. Hens just stand in front of it and can even bump against it without any problems. It won’t heat up a coop house much. Mine is 8’ by 10’ and insulated. Had temps into single digits overnight without frost bite issues. Birds were kept indoors for several days. Used seed starting heat mat to keep water unfrozen btw. This panel will make a good heat source for day old chicks mounted on a ceiling in a brooder. Add some way to adjust the height and use a cordless remote thermometer device to monitor.

Great heater for chickens. Used this in the coop during the winter to keep chickens warm at night. Worked all winter long with no issues. Installed easily with just a couple screws. Bigger than my last one that I replaced. Whips clean with soap and water when needed. Shipping was slow but overall I would purchase this again, great value for the money.

I bought this for my coturnix quail. During the winter it gets quite cold where I live. I tested it indoors first to get an understanding of how it works. It heated my bedroom well at night. So, I put it outside behind my quails cages. It’s the first time when, even in the teens, that my birds still layed eggs. I’m hopeful that I can get eggs year round. My only advice is to use caution when using this heater, as the front of it does get really hot.

The heater box was taped up after-market so I’m assuming I received someone else’s return? Either way, I opened the box, plugged it in, turned to high and within 5 minutes it was hot enough to burn my hands. Unplugged it, let it cool down all the way and tried it on the low setting and got same result. Thank goodness I tested it before putting in with my girls!! This thing would severely burn anything that it came in contact with if it didn’t first start a fire. Amazon wanted me to send it back and I said I would, but will etch “damaged” on the screen to prevent a tragedy when it was shipped out again. I buy a lot on Amazon and am generally very happy with the service when something isn’t right, which is thankfully not often. So I was a little put off when the rep told me they’d make a one-time exception and allow me to keep [what I would call THEIR liability] as a gift while they returned my money. I decided to open up my “gift” before adding it to the landfill and there it was … it looked like a child assembled it with leftover materials they found in the garbage of an electrician. Literally … clear scotch tape & glue holding wires down, insulation pieced together from scraps, all covered with tin foil and evidence of any/all plastic melting throughout. Shocking, really. I’d stay far away from this particular heater … I’ve got other brands that have worked great for years with no issues — this isn’t that!!

purchased two for large insulated dog house (8 feet by twelve feet) where my two 100 pound plus dogs occasionally have to spend the night in cold weather when we are gone from home. We live in northern Alberta where (sorry Greta) it STILL gets to minus forty degrees EVERY winter. Doesn't get super warm in the dog house but between the two heaters and lots of straw and insulated walls, they are able to stay safe and comfortable.

We chose this heater because the younger chickens were separated from the older ones by a mesh wall and we wanted to give them more heat without adding too much to the electrical draw on the circuit. This was a great addition. They love to cuddle up to it on windy or cold days and it takes the edge off the crisp air. Just holding your hand in front of it 12-16” you can feel it warm up. It I had been great!

I came to Amazon looking for a replacement heat lamp bulb but came across this unit and thought it sounded ideal for my application, which is not chickens but my 2 outdoor cats. I turn on the heat for them when outdoor temps are -12C or more. They have a custom house built under the house sidestep with a rubber sponge mat for a curtain, an interior heat lamp fixture, plus plywood walls & floor are insulated with styrofoam insulation. It was a dog house for a very large dog no longer here, cats have taken it over. I was after my husband for quite a while to renovate it and make it smaller so the area to heat was reduced and it would be warmer for cats, but he opted to let the hairy buggers into the house when it was cold instead. Recently the bulb burnt out, which brought me to Amazon looking for another one.I came across this and it sounded safer, more efficient and perfectly suited to my cat house. I love that it gives off heat but won't burn! I have in the past had cats with a big circular burn on their back when it was -30 or more and they got way too close to the heat lamp by piling on top of each other - had to buy a guard for it so that didn't happen again! Not an issue with this unit. I definitely notice on my electric bill when I plug in the heat lamp. I am certain this chicken coop heater must be more efficient and won't use the same amount of power. What would really be fantastic now is a solar panel to power it, although only useful probably 30% of the winter time with our harsh climate & lack of sun it would still be a reduction in costs to run it.I also love that the plugin cord is wrapped in wire because one of the cats has a penchant for chewing on cords, can't tell you how many phone charger ends the little bugger has wrecked chewing when he was allowed in the house.I installed this quite easily, the worst part was lining up the screws level to hang it on the wall. Before installation I did plug it in and turn it on both settings to ensure it worked. It has the power icon embedded in one corner and that is your indicator it is on & working since it glows somewhat when heated. It gives off great radiant heat, I don't know how since there is no fan to disperse it but when I opened the front curtain to check it the next day, cats were laying more than a foot away and sleeping comfortably - you can't even see them in the photo. It was perfectly toasty in there, I estimate dimensions of the area heated is in the neighborhood of 4x5x4 ft. It was -10C outside at the time and I had the heater on high. I expected to find them laying against it, especially the old cat with arthritis. With the heat lamp, they'd have been huddled directly underneath it. They love this coop heater!I was unsure it was going to work because when it arrived part of it had punctured the box, as seen in photo. It was packaged inside an Amazon box while in transit at least. Turns out it was just one of the legs of the unit which I wasn't using anyway.I have this plugged in to a smart plug which is managed by Alexa, the entire setup is just 'cat's meow' ha! This was a smart replacement, after a week I'm quite happy with it and so are my cats. I also think it is a safer alternative to heat lamps. Now I want to see if I can set a timer or actions so it starts on its own based on temperature outdoors rather than time of day. Now that would be smart, genius in fact!If you are thinking about this purchase, buy it you won't regret it I'm sure. So far so good. I only turn it on at night to take the chill out of the coop. I bough two because one of my chickens gets bullied off the perch and I wanted to make sure she had access to some heat.I only turn them on low at night. They are not designed to heat the coop just to take the chill off. Which is perfect as you don’t want your chickens to be so warm that they have a hard time adjusting too the cold of winter and don’t go out. My girls love it I just mounted them behind their perch not to close but enough to prevent frostbite. I posted a night shot from my baby camera mounted in the coop.

Have a tractor run with attached coop. Run is 4x12 with the coop making up the first 4 feet and 2 feet of the ground. Coop is 4x4x4, 2 levels with roosts on 2 sides up top, attached nesting boxes on the back, and a small ramp. We live in Atlantic Canada and in November their water in the coop started to freeze. Finally got the heater out a week before Christmas. It's plugged into a thermostatically controlled outlet that comes on at 2c and shuts off at 7c. It's hung on the door on the lower level on the side of the coop. Also put a wireless temperature and humidity sensor in the coop.So far with the heater on high, the coop temperature has been between 0.5c on the coldest night to 7c or 8c on balmy days. The water has not frozen since but it's also just to the side of the heater. So it is working and does raise the temperature inside this small coop. However, it remains to be seen what happens when we get temperatures of -20c and -35c windchill.Straw is touching the face of the heater but I don't believe it's hot enough to ignite. It may burn your hand if you touch the heater long enough though.
