Product Description

Gold 9 Standard Cover

Crescent Moon has been making snowshoes for walking, hiking and running for over 2 decades. We have built a reputation for innovation and

design, constantly challenging the norm and creating enjoyable snowshoeing experiences for beginners, backcountry and every use in between.

Based in the heart of snowshoe country, Colorado - our mission is to provide our customers with an unforgettable outdoor

winter experience, no matter where you live.

Woman

Designed by Women, for Women

Did you know Crescent Moon was the first to make a series of snowshoes designed for women? Long ago the co-founder of the company wanted a slightly smaller design with a more exaggerated teardrop design to better match her shorter stride.

We want everyone to have a snowshoe perfect for them, so we now offer two models designed for women (the Gold 13 and Gold 15). We have two dedicated to men as well (the Gold 10 and 17). The rest are unisex.

Point being, Crescent Moon snowshoes are designed to make you forget you're wearing snowshoes at all.

Crescent Moon Gold Series Snowshoe Highlights

binding

ALL FOOT ENCOMPASSING BINDING

Gold series snowshoes have the Crescent Moon single pull loop binding. The all foot encompassing binding is made of flexible polymer which wraps around your foot and provides excellent support and comfort and won't come out of adjustment. With a pull of the loop on top of the binding the entire harness system is tightened – or loosened – with one hand - even with gloves on!

frame

TEARDROP SHAPED PLATFORM

Our tear drop shaped frame provides outstanding maneuverability without loss of floatation. This unique shape allows you to walk and run naturally without changing your stride or waddling. The frames are made with high-grade aluminum tubing for strength. The decking is lightweight, durable, highly abrasion resistant, and quiet, noticeably different from plastic snowshoes.

SUPREME TRACTION

Aggressive 3 crampon stainless steel traction system provides outstanding grip in all terrains, but particularly in hard pack and icy conditions, and on climbs and traverses. We include Crescent Moon's unique climbing toe claw which is important for digging in when climbing hills or mountains and helps with push-off when hiking or running. Gold 10 and Gold 17 snowshoes include extra traversing claws on the frame sides.

lift

HEEL LIFTS INCLUDED

Gold series snowshoes include two lightweight removable heel lifts. What is a heel lift? It's an optional feature for your snowshoes that makes climbing more efficient, improves traction, and increases your comfort by reducing the strain on your calves. Who needs a heel lift? If you ascend mountains & hills you'll appreciate heel lifts. If you're spending most of your time on flatter or rolling terrain, you probably don't need the heel lift. Tools aren't required to remove or put heel lifts on.

GOLD 13 TRAIL WOMEN'S SNOWSHOES

Recommended for use on designated trails

Designed by a woman, for women. Gold 13's are responsive, lightweight, and comfortable on any trail. The frame has been bent with a steep nose and tapered tail. Because of this, with each step the shoes will clear away from themselves within your own natural stride without forcing you to adapt a new walking style like traditionally shaped snowshoes do.

Our entire Gold series utilizes our all foot encompassing binding system. You'll feel support in every direction of movement - uphill, downhill, traversing terrain, walking, or running. Our binding system is easy and fast to get on and off. Instead of nylon we use hypalon strapping, a nearly unbreakable waterproof material.

When I opened the box which only had 1 piece of flimsy packing tape to seal it shut, there was only 1 snowshoe inside and it was filthy! Returning it!

I've had these for about three seasons and so I've had a good chance to see them in different conditions. I like that they are lightweight and the tapered back edge is comfortable for walking. However, they cover less surface area, so the taper compromises the overall functionality for me if I am on new snow, because I sink more. These are great for well worn paths, though. I also find myself adjusting the bindings often due to them coming loose or my boot shifting in the binding. Overall, I would say these are decent.

Clasps come loose constantly! Would not recommend.

These are some very nice snowshoes. I purchased them for my mother who snowshoes a few times a week during the winter. They are highly adjustable which is great for strapping different boots into. They have sharp points which provide her with good traction even on ice. These shoes are also very lightweight. Yes, there are cheaper options out there, but these shoes will last for several years of hard use!

I've had these snowshoes since the end of 2011. I used them again this past weekend and wondered, "Hmmm, did I ever write a review for these awesome things strapped to my feet?" Nope! So here it is!These snowshoes are awesome. I can get in and out of both of them (with gloves on!) in under a minute. They have held up to lots and lots of miles, kicking rocks and very cold temps. I've hiked in packed trails and broken new snow in them and they've done wonderful on both. They're lightweight and so natural to walk in. Plus, I live outside of Boulder, so I kind of had to support the local team! The float may be a little less due to the tapered design, but I'll take that over waddling like a penguin!

I love them!

I live in Vermont and was looking for a snowshoe that was lighter than my Tubbs that I could use for fast trekking/running. I was trying to decide between the Dion and the Crescent Moon. I absolutely love the bindings on the Gold 13. It is easy to adjust and my foot fits snuggly in place. The extra cleat is also very helpful. Although I haven't been able to try them out on a groomed trail yet, it worked well breaking trail in about 5 " of snow. I bought some lightweight running boots which work very well with the Gold 13. My snow running technique needs some work however. I still wonder if the smaller, lighter Dion might be better for running on groomed trails, but generally am very happy with the Crescent Moon.

I decided to upgrade, as I've been snowshoeing a lot the past few winters. These make all the difference. They are narrower, so easier to walk in normally, and light. They do a great job getting me through the snow and into the outdoors. I highly recommend them.
