About this item

  • Swiss pattern precision file for removal of material on delicate or intricate parts
  • Double-cut teeth for rapid removal of material
  • Knurled round handle for grip

The Nicholson round needle file with handle has double-cut Swiss pattern teeth for precision filing of holes and curves in fine work. The file tapers slightly toward the point to ease access into small areas. It has double-cut Swiss pattern teeth for rapid removal of material on delicate or intricate parts. A knurled round handle provides for secure gripping.

Hand files are used to remove material and smooth and shape workpieces. They have forward-facing cutting teeth and cut when pushed over either a stationary or rotating workpiece. Single-cut teeth have single rows cut diagonally across the width of the file. Double-cut teeth have two sets of rows cut in opposite directions. American pattern files have three coarseness grades. Coarse, also known as bastard cut, is suitable for efficient, heavy material removal where finish is not a concern. Medium, also known as second cut, offers average material removal and finish quality. Fine, also known as smooth cut, provides the smoothest finish. Swiss pattern files have eight coarseness grades, from 00 (coarse), 0 (medium), and 1 to 6 (fine to finest), offering a smoother, more precise finish than equivalent American pattern files.

Nicholson manufactures hand tools and power tool accessories. The company is headquartered in Sparks, MD.

Exactly what I was looking, small round files. Have not used yet but they appear to be good files

Title is wrong. Doesn't come with a handle. Nice quality file though

I love needle files. Sometimes the holes do not line up. One can quickly nudge a hole over to make it fit. Also, many potentiometers and panel connectors are not circular. I use the files to adjust the shape of the hole.

Used on a handgun with a particularly sharp edge on trigger face. Gently grinded just outer edge to smooth on both sides, much more comfortable trigger pull now. It did take a bit of the bluing off trigger but not very noticeable and when I get around it will use blueing pen commonly used for restoring handgun finish

Another of a wide array of needle files I use to customize my 1911.Very high quality and just the right length.I use this file gently to clean out small holes in gun frames. No good as ear cleaner. Do not run with one in your hand,

I usually use Grobet Vallorbe Swiss pattern files. However, I bought a Nicholson on a whim and was very surprised. This is a very high quality file made in Switzerland. I would say it is equivalent to the Grobet Vallorbe files that I like so much. I'm not sure when Nicholson started selling these Swiss made files. They are a great file at a fair price.
