Worked well in an aluminum block for a tractor (Kohler K321). The tapered seat is good quality and I like that THIS type does not have a lip that extends above the block. Instead it allows the whole seat to be inserted into the block, then when flush you use the provided tool to hammer it in order to expand out the side walls of the seat into the block. This allows the spark plug to be inserted into the block at exactly the same distance toward the valves as before (mine is a flat head engine).Just make sure you:a) Clamp the block to something perfectly flat.b) Follow the instructions and drill out the spark plug hole first (I ordered a Bosch CO2159 1/2 In. x 6 In. Cobalt Drill Bit ) on a press drill. Ensured that it was perfectly perpendicular first.c) Insert the tapping tool. Then start it off with your fingers first. Get some 'Tap Magic' tapping fluid. Get the tap to bite in and be perfectly straight into the block.d) Then use a socket with a long handle to very GENTLY, SLOWLY and SMOOTHLY turn the tap into the block. I kept applying tap magic every few turns to keep it lubed.e) remove all metal shavings left over. Clean out with a spray lube of some kind and a rag.e) apply the seat by screwing in with your fingers and then use the provided tool to hammer into place. This prevents the seat from being removed when you remove the spark plug. The seat should stay in place.Worked great for me. Just take your time an be patient. I spent a few hours doing mine.

This tool by CTA Tools came with THREE inserts, not six. 2-short ones and 1-long one. Also, the threads on the tool are NOT cut as cleanly as the Heli-coil tool. It seems as though the CTA product has less quality control. The sad thing is, you won't know that it's an inferior tool until you try and use it. And it's the same price as the Heli-coil tool. Even if it came as pictured-although I think it was SUPPOSED to come with six as it appears there's room for six inserts, two of each size-I think someone did the five-finger-discount-I still think, for the same money, the Heli-coil is the SUPERIOR product.

Much cheaper than a trip to the mechanic. Blew a plug out of the head on a 2000 Forerunner. Had almost 300K miles on it, so figured why not try it. Plugs back in back on the road. If you have a similar problem, but this kit. Super easy to do.
