They feature a 2" x 2" shank and have a higher weight capacity for towing heavy-duty trailers, including utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, single-horse livestock trailers and most recreational vehicle trailers. With class 3 trailer hitches being the most common type of trailer hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs, the class 3 ball mount, by association, is an excellent complement to this trailer hitch and these larger vehicles (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc).This particular class 3 ball mount has a gross trailer weight capacity of 7,500 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 750 lbs. It features a length of 10-1/4", a drop of 2" and a possible rise of 3/4". Class 3 ball mounts are CNC-formed and robotically welded to ensure unwavering precision and dependable strength in each and every unit. We mechanically descale each one to provide a smooth surface for a long-lasting finish. For those of you who prefer a product description be accurate be aware that the actual measurements are not the measurements the manufacture states. They are close but not as stated. The actual drop is 2-1/4". The rise is 1-1/8" and the center to center from the 1" diameter ball hole to the ball to 5/8" pin hole is 10-1/4". Curt builds a quality part but with this one and other Curt items i have recently purchased the measurements are close but not 100% accurate.

Very well made, excellent paint/powder coat job, nice weld lines. 10-1/4" represents distance of centerline pin hole to ball hole. I ordered so the ball would stick out a bit further from rear bumper and help in cornering. Plus also permit me to lift rear hatch without hitting bow of boat. Does the job but in my case I should of gone out about 2" more.
