Excellent set off strings. My teacher uses these, and recommended them. Sound is great. Volume with the hard tension is excellent.

I really like these, but will never understand why it's always the D-string that breaks on me (no matter the brand). I've learned to tie them right, even checked the bridge, nut and the tuners for burrs, but a D-string just doesn't seem last for me. Ah well, a quirk of this guitar and a small price to pay. These strings sound great on my Ovation classical.Oh, and get a 3-Pack...they come with three D-strings.

Reasonable price, no nonsense, plain and simple, professional quality strings.Sound: If one tries to imagine or remember the typical sound of a beautiful classical/flaminco guitar. Most people will imagine the sound produced by these strings. If you like the default sound of the classical guitar, you will like these strings. That simple. They are the industry standard, and for good reason.Playability: they feel the same as you expect of any pro quality strings.Longevity: as with all strings they sound best new, in this case the initial extra brightness and volume and superb sound lasts for 1-4weeks. My average is 2 to 3 weeks. They still sound good (but not superb) after 1 month, and can easily last for a few months.Consistency: never had a bad set in over 20 years. They are air sealed, will always stay fresh even after many years of storage, untill you open the bag.

Got a couple of sets of Martin, 'cause they were cheap... Not good. "D" strings broke in very short order, sometimes only a few days/weeks after installation. D'Addarios are holding up well, and stay in tune well, after settling in. I have had D'Addarios last for years without breakage. (finger-style, not flamenco) I recommend the "tie-end", as opposed to the "ball-end", in order to prevent long-term "slotting" and pitting of the bridge. That being said, there is a new "cinch block" system on the market, that allows you to use ball-end, without contacting the bridge with the ball itself. It has 6 small blocks that the individual strings loop through before insertion into the bridge, and over the saddle. This not only alleviates the need to tie the annoying knots in the strings, but isolates the ball-end from touching the wooden bridge. Very nice indeed, highly recommended !
