Incredible value for real squirrel hair travel brushes. The plastic handles are sturdy and won't crack if water stays in the bristles. The clear ferrules seem to be constructed well with multiple tight wire closures. The bristles are soft (after soaking them and releasing the initial stiffness) and hold a lot of water and paint. They taper to an extremely sharp point. I was able to do extremely detailed work with the tip of the largest size 12 brush (pointed round). You get three pointed round brushes: size 6, 8, and 12. If you are going for the most ultralight option, just take any one of the brushes, you'll be able to do an entire painting with just one of these brushes. All of them break down into two pieces so they are extremely compact. You could take all three in the carry case and they won't take up much space. The case is probably the most heavy and bulky item.

i am an artist and love to paint with water floor while I am traveling. These brushes are very compact, but are good quality. I haven’t had any bristles coming loose during painting, and they hold their shape well.

So, lots of thoughts on these brushes. If you have never used squirrel hair brushes - they are well suited to some things, and not for others (like every 'kind' of brush, of course.) They soak up a *ton* of water! And they are also delightfully soft. This makes them ideal as 'mop' type brushes, to lay down big washes easily and evenly. It also makes them great for loose, more impressionistic styles. They are also possibly the best brushes in my collection for "plopping" that perfect pointed-tip-oval shape that makes such lovely flower petals or leaves. On the other hand, even the smallest of these is not going to be ideal for making precise, sharp details. They soak up - and then let go - entirely too much water for precision details. You'll want a long, thin, probably synthetic brush for precise detailing. But, for 'loose sketch' watercoloring on the go, these are just beautifully ideal. The detachable handle/protective cover is so clever and very well made, and surprisingly comfortable to hold and manipulate. They may be travel brushes, but they are going to have a permanent place in my studio brushes as well - I foresee them being my go-to for laying down washes.I've had one or two hairs fall out, but that's just to be expected with handmade style brushes. I haven't seen anything I would consider excessive or even surprising.Very highly recommended if soft, heavy-loading brushes suits your style!

These travel brushes are decent but not without flaws. They hold a good amount of water and they hold their points pretty well. The metal holders are nice and have air holes in the tops. The little case is nice. The problem with the brushes is they shed bristles like crazy! I hope over time this will stop but I'm just not sure.

I took these on a trip to try them out. They are rather stiff so make for good narrow lines. I didn't like them as much as some other brushes, they hold an ok amount of water. I don't love putting them back in the holder because it's hard not to catch the bristles. They would be durable but it would be easy to destroy the brush ny accident. They really do compact down and provide a different feel than the ones that hold water. like the leather holder it comes with, these are extremely compact and can easily fit in a purse. I had no issues taking them through TSA.

These are wonderful watercolor brushes in their own right (they hold plenty of water, paint, and they are shaped well) but they make the best style of travel brushes. They have lids that can be attached to the bottom of the handle to make full length brushes. When done using them they can be effectively shortened and covered up and put into the small leather (or leather-ish, I don't know but it feels nice) case for travel. The case has slits in it so a belt could be woven through and you have a handsfree carrying case. I won't be leaving on any trips in the near future without my travel watercolor paint brushes. They are perfect for painting in small travel logs. Also if you are looking for a special gift for the artist in your life, these are packaged in a very nice box and the brushes arrive at their full extended length and protected in clear tubes. It makes a gorgeous gift.

You can travel with them in the compact case so easily and when full size the brushes are a comfortable length. The plastic cap and the pleather package keeps them in good shape when even when mushed in with your other art supplies. The sizes 6, 8 and 12 are very useful and they hold the point after many uses.

These are beautifully made, and they paint very well. The brushes hold a lot of paint and a lot of water, I love the stylish look and the packaging was very impressive. These are excellent for traveling.
