I really question why soo many are questioning the traditional make of these kilts . 1st they are utility kilts that is more modern kilt. And woman, a female kilt buckles on the left side and a man’s kilt buckles on the right. That is traditional. Like female shirts button opposite of male shirts. These kilts fit great when you understand that. Female kilts are cut for female they just have to be measure where you want the kilt to sit on your body (High/or Low) I like mine on my hips so I measured right in the area I want the waistband to fit ….and my kilt is a perfect fit. A man’s utility kilt will not set on mine due to curves. And I look really square in a man’s kilt. These female kilts really give my curves a little more notice ability. I sure hope this helps because these are really great UTILITY kilts for female.

Let me start by saying, I have never worn a kilt before so I am no expert. I tried on several before choosing this one & I’m glad I did. The pockets were VERY convenient. Received many compliments on style and fit. I love the hidden plaid accent too. The black was rich and looked more expensive quality than others I tried. It was made to be durable and comfortable. This was heavier material and I didn’t fear it flying up. The others I tried didn’t cover my “underbutt” & I wasn’t comfortable with that. Reached above my knees (I’m all torso and no leg, standing 5’4”). I’m not a small girl and was grateful for the help with measurements. When worn right, it was flattering for this very curvy girl.My whole family purchased different brands/styles but in the same color(black), & it was cool to see how different we all looked. I 100% stand by my choice & look forward to wearing it again.

Pockets. Pockets. Huge, accessible and versatile! This is literally my favorite garment to wear. I get compliments from all genders and ages.I have worn my kilt regularly for well over a year. I worked on an urban farm all summer and at a school during the academic year. My kilt is always the right choice of attire.I'm writing a review now because I just realized I never did, when I went in my shopping history to order an exact duplicate of my beloved kilt. The one mildy annoying thing is the color faded. But again, worked outside, on a farm full-time for a season. Sun bleaching happens.

I'm going to be dead honest; I'm a fat chick and I want this kilt to ride a bit high on my waist, which it does just fine. It's nice and heavy, solid fabric, solid stitching, great pockets. But it's a little short in the back. The back is exactly the same length as the front, so if you have a butt, it's going to be a wee bit breezier in the back. I got this too wear with my woxers, but they're too long and show on the backs of my thighs. I was going to get one of the men's versions, but the reviews says the length would be good so I went for it. Alas, I'll be ordering a men's kilt after all, but I'll keep this one for when I want to look cute for the hubby. I've got some tights around here somewhere.

I own two of these, and, indulgently, have a third on the way. I have a small and a small/medium. My natural waist is 32 inches (81 cm). The small fits loosely, comfortably on the largest snap adjustment, but worn like this on my waist, in some situations I find the skirt is a bit shorter than I am comfortable with, several inches above my knees (I am 5 feet 3.4 inches or 161 cm tall). I prefer the extra adjustability of the small/medium as I can wear it at my waist on the smallest adjustment, or at two equally comfortable positions lower between my waist and hips using the two other snap positions. The lower slung waistline puts the length of the skirt comfortably just above my knees, providing more coverage while still allowing unencumbered movement. I have washed both my olive and maroon skirts several times, and with some straightening and pulling down on the pleats when they are hung to dry, they come up presentable enough for me to wear without ironing. An important lesson I have learnt though, is to wash the maroon colour in a separate load to everything else, as the colour runs profusely. These are so practical with the sturdy material, large secure pockets for phone and things, and the design which allows for maximum ventilation and freedom of movement, without feeling the weight of what is in the pockets. More than a garment, this is a piece of equipment that helps you to feel more organised and secure when you are out and about. They are much heavier than the usual skirt, but so comfortable with all that adjustment. Measure yourself comfortably at several positions you might like to wear the kilt, and choose your size based on that range of measurements.

This is such a great kilt. It is very well made, and comes with additional hardware in case any goes missing. It fits beautifully because it is adjustable with three sets of sturdy snaps and adjustable bucket. The pockets are cool and practical. It is also super stylish, very comfortable, and has immediately become my favorite thing to wear. It works well for work or play. I plan to buy another color. I truly recommend this product.

I LOVE THIS KILT!My husband and I bought kilts from DNKT and have worn them hiking all summer. We highly recommend kilt hiking.I love the pockets. There is a perfect for my Chapstick that is easily accessible, another pocket is perfect access for snacks. My phone is protected and secure in another, but easy to access.I found the rings are perfect for attaching my sweat towel. It is a little bigger that I thought it would be but is a perfect fit on the smallest snap setting. It covers everything well. The fabric and closures have held up to everything the mountains have thrown at them. When we finish our hiking, I can swap out for a clean shirt and look nice enough to go out to eat.I wish that this exact design was also available in a lighter weight tech fabric - like my husband's DNKT kilt. We both sweat a lot, and his kilt dried much faster.I'm going to be sad in a few months when I'm back in snowpants and missing my kilt!

Thank you Damn Near for making this style of kilt!!!! Most kilts are traditionally high waisted and long, not a great fit for many women (or for shorter / stockier men). Regardless of gender, if you don’t want a long kilt with a high waist, this would work for you! It doesn’t look or fit like it would only be for women. If you are on the fence, hop the heck off of it and order! I’ve tried many other brands and this is hands down the best utility, quality and fit I’ve found. Please do go by the sizing the company provides. I’m a size 12/large and the medium kilt fits me, but on the tightest snaps! The quality is outstanding. Thick fabric and nice seams. I love the pockets. Each side pocket is divided into 2, so you can separate your wallet, keys, phone, and chapstick or whatever your fourth thing is. Also, the sewn-in metal loops allow me to clip my dog leash onto one of them for hands free dog walking. Could also clip keys on there or anything on a carabiner. Super cool. Women’s clothes don’t typically have spacious pockets like these, and I appreciate this manly privilege. Finally.I wear heavy metal shirts every day and this kilt goes perfectly with that look. I also travel a lot and this is rugged enough for long wear at, say, a 4-day outdoor music festival. Probably gonna order more colors. And by the way- if Damn Near Kilt ‘Em wants a brand ambassador at metal festivals around the world, I’d happily oblige. I’m impressed.
