French Design. Caplock or Percussion Lock pistols were so called because the lock system causes a percussion cap to be struck by the hammer when the trigger is pulled. Powder inside the cap ignites and this in turn ignites the main powder charge, which propels a lead ball from the barrel. Most (though not all) caplock firearms were loaded from the muzzle of the gun (muzzleloaders). The Caplock was a great improvement over the flintlock as it was less susceptible to weather-related misfires. The original of this pistol was made in Brescia, Italy in about 1825. This non-firing version is accurately detailed and shows typical Italian craftsmanship a great costume or conversation piece.

Really nice prop flintlock. Which isn't a surprise from Denix. I've owned a few swords from Denix and all are pretty good quality. This flintlock is made of real metal and wood. The pricing is also fairly decent in comparison to many other Denix replicas that are a tad pricey. Packaging was subpar. It was just floating around the box with no bubble rap or foam casing. It seems like some paint rubbed off inside of the box but it's not noticable on the prop.

Realistic enough you can't even tell they aren't real at first glance.

when my son was pulling back the hammer, the pice to pull it back, broke off! i have no idea how to fix it, i give this a 3 star rating because my son loved it when he got it, it was pretty cool, but a week later, he pulled it back, and it broke! my son is a history buff so he got this with his money, i don't know if he pulled it back to much or what. it just broke!

really high quality with good weight to it. The finish feels very nice and doesn't feel cheap at all. You can pull the trigger and there's a small pop, but nothing can shoot out of it. I would recommend it and would buy it again in a heartbeat!

The pistol is cool, looks real, feels fairly weighty--believe people calling it a conversation piece. I've had several people comment on how cool it looks. Just one con, though: Its parts get kinda loose fast, and you can't really tighten the hammer. But most of the parts that get considerably loose are attached by screws, so you can tighten them yourself. And there are places (like between the barrel and the wood beneath it) where there are narrow gaps that I can't seem to fix. This is not a terrific replica, but it makes a nice prop when seen at distance and in general is a nicely crafted piece. But don't buy it if it needs to look totally realistic close up.
