I’ve ordered two of these and both of them have arrived with the sand chipped off from the porcelain. Department 56 was likely unable to find a reliable method for gluing sand to porcelain. I suspect that they will all be damaged at some point. The pictures are from two different units, one damaged in the front and the other damaged in the back.

I buy my wife a new one each anniversary and Christmas (since 1986) we have quite a collection. They are always nicely detailed and a pleasure to setup each season.

I wanted to purchase this piece for my Christmas village because of the name. I saved for a long time to be able to afford it and was thrilled when it came. Over all, I have been satisfied and it had been a great addition. However, the beach section breaks off extremely easily which is frustrating considering what I paid for it. Absolutely would not stop me from recommending or repurchaseing.
