I bought this compass 5 years ago. The light went out after two years(very, very little use). This year the compass damping fluid all leaked out so the compass now just spins around. Would prefer something a bit higher quality going ahead, but my usage level hardly justifies this.

The compass if it's not tight IT flips over it's not bottom it's all top-heavy they can't be on a pendulum

While the compass itself is nice, the housing is terrible - it looks much nicer int he photos but very cheap in reality. There are no instructions for the wiring, the seams of the plastic are rough - and the button on the front is non-functional and jammed in. Not a good stocking stuffer - which is why I bought it.

For the money, I guess this compass will work for you if you are not planning on running in rough water. I run high speeds on the ocean, and the compass will spin over 180 degrees and then stick there until the next bump jars it loose. Obviously this makes it completely unusable for navigation. I ended up buying a RIchie for $85 and ran it in similar water, and it only deviated 5 degrees and came right back to where it needed to be. For rough water, spend the money on a higher quality compass.

This is a really good compass, well made, lighted, has a light cover, and can be tilted to aim for your destination, The purchase was on time and speedy. The company was great.

A well-built compass for my boat and the light is pretty cool how it glows red. My only complaint is that the positive and negative cables are NOT marked at all so you have to guess which is which... that could be fixed.
