I built a plain aluminum 18ft v-hull boat. Among my additions to the boat was a completely rebuilt 1984 Mercury 50hp outboard. The steering I built a helm/steering console and installed this product. The no-feedback option is excellent. It functions perfectly making steering much easier and I don't have to fight the wheel. I had to add this as a new install instead of a replacement. I made sure to follow the guide for determining length and found the fit is perfect. Very easy and straight forward installation. I feel it's a much better option for smaller outboard installs like mine. Just add a steering wheel. It's a quality product that is built to last. Totally worth the price. I will buy again for my next boat I build.

I bought this to replace a 13 yo worn out less expensive steering system, thinking this would be better. The nfb steering has a larger cable which requires a larger radius than the previous system. I had to modify my boat to make one of the bends in the cable more gentle, and it still requires both hands to steer. Before purchasing, be sure it can be installed with curves of not less than 6” radius.

I thought this would be harder to do; but the job was not too bad at all and now boat turns very smoothly. I kept having to grease my old one and that was very very temporary. This took care of it. 2008 Dargel Skout.

Good buy and was perfect for my needs. I bought this kit for my 17 foot Skiff with a Yamaha 40 outboard and it was very easy to install. It takes a little getting used to but because it's the "No Feedback System" you're unable to turn the motor side to side while standing back by the motor. You must turn it with the steering wheel at the helm. Not a big deal though. Just remember that and don't get too frustrated with it.
