I could not use it because it is not compatible with ford explorer sport trac 2007 with 4.6 3v engine, the thread is bigger than the original one.

I bought this connector to replace the standard connector that is on radiator on Ford Explorer. I did not use it because I replaced my radiator and the new radiator appears to be fine.

2007 Explorer Sport Trac V8 (early build), installed into Spectra CU2816 without problemFittings were recommended by pretty much everyone due to the double oring design.500 or so miles and zero leaks.

I normally stay well away from any part branded Dorman, but this part is of very high quality. I purchased two of these fittings to install on a new radiator for a 2007 Explorer. The require a 1 1/16” wrench to install. Don’t over tighten the fittings or you’ll be buying another a new radiator. These fittings include a double o-ring that prevent transmission fluid leaks. You’ll also want to get a tube of Permatex 59214 (also available on Amazon) to use on the threads going into the radiator.

this product has the double o_rings and does work very well at fixing the leaks at this fitting.only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the quick release operation still leaves some to be desired.

This part eliminated the need to buy a new expensive radiator and the effort of having to remove / replace the whole radiator. This replacement part stopped the transmission fluid leak. I didn't find clear instructions in one particular site but I looked at some other reviews here and also YouTube for additional suggestions. 1st, I drained the radiator fluid out of the radiator (collecting it for reuse) One of the tools I bought with the part (not a Dorman product) did not work for me to detach the transmission line from the radiator it was a "scissors style" tool. I ended up using 2 flat blade screwdrivers to finally detach it from the radiator (not the best way but it was the most expedient at the time too far into it) - no it didn't come off easy - had to work with it for several minutes. After (finally!) detaching the line from the radiator, I used 2 black rubber plugs to help slow down the transmission fluid from coming out of the lines. After I temporary plugged the lines with rubber corks, I unscrewed the old, worn out connector, and "quickly" screwed in the new Dorman part (I did put some grey sealant on threads of the new Dorman connector). I then reattached the transmission line into the new Dorman connector "quickly" because transmission fluid again is flowing out. I recommend that you view several review sites before you try this to find out the "what ifs". PS. If you are replacing both connectors on a Ford radiator - only do one at a time. The cooler line is not connected to the radiator. I am sure there are easer ways to do this - so check out other reviews and their recommendations also.

These fittings are much better than the factory as they are equipped with a two o-ring setup inside. They will not fit some of the cheap radiator replacements out there as the threads are a different pitch. They should fit the factory Ford/Mercury radiators and the better replacement ones that mimic the factory radiators. I installed this on my son's 2006 Mercury which had the radiator replaced and the drivers side line dripped constantly. Seeing as how there is no dip stick to keep track of transmission fluid being low and or adding fluid easily , unless you want to replace a burned up transmission, no leaks are a must on these newer vehicles without a dip stick. Installed and no more drip! Might be worth the price just to see if it will fit yours if your experiencing a drip from one of these fittings! Note, it usually seems to be the drivers side that starts leaking because of the longer line and vibrations!
