This is NOT an OEM Dorman fuse bus block of high quality and is documented as coming with 100 amp fuse for 90 amp alternator and 150 amp fuse for 120 amp alternator. However, unit was delivered with 100 amp fuse installed and missing the 150 amp fuse. Be aware theft is occurring as replacement 150 amp fuse is missing with replacement cost of around $25. Someone has tampered with the unit. Also, unit has substantial mounting issues to OEM battery box. Score is NEGATIVE FIVE STAR!

If you're trying to mount this on a mk4 VW it is not a drop in part. It has 4 large feet that are not present on the OEM part. Even after slicing them off to ensure it sits flat, it still does not snap into place because it is missing two tubular protrusions which engage with the battery box lid, so it flops around. It might be possible to zip tie it in. I haven't tried yet.Also the finger tabs that you're meant to push to release the lid, are so wimpy they bend instead of flexing the catch open. Better have a fine screwdriver in your glove box to pry with or you'll have to break it open to change a fuse on the road.Lastly, the plastic guide rails are too close together for the original captive nuts on the harness wires. They fit fine in the OEM channels but not this one. They had to be forced in. This may lead to plastic melting faster because they are dead tight against the plastic. I would have found these faults more acceptable in the $12 version, less so on this one which I'd hoped would be closer to OEM.

I thought the product worked exactly how it was advertised. Was an easy swap. The hardest part was getting it loose from the old fuse block. Now my alternator is charging my battery again. Old metal jumper was cracked. Parts store wanted to sell me a new alternator. Would have 5 stars if the spacing allowed for a socket to fit in easier. Other than that it works great. Not sure how so many other reviews had problems.

Product description not accurate. Although it works with a VW MKIV, it does not fit on the plastic platform situated on the battery holder. I needed to use a bungie chord to secure it so it did not flap. Check your vehicle carefully for installation compatibility. I must emphasize that Dorman did communicate rapidly and effectively, but I am stuck with the result of a bad description!

This worked great as a replacement for a 2004 Beetle Convertible Turbo fuse box. Mine kept melting. This is the second one I have ordered, but after no a lot of research (it's all over the VW forums) I've found it's not the fuse box that is bad, it is the positive battery wire that is hooked to the alternator. Apparently that cable goes bad over the years and causes overheating, melting and fires. So, I've ordered this second one at the same time as a new cable so I will replace them together. Keep in mind the slots on this fusebox for the connectors is a bit narrower than the OEM model, but that does not affect the safety or functionality of the product. Hopefully this is the last one I have to order!!!

An important note: This is the part that fits direct for latter year MkIV Volkswagen Jetta/Golf/Beetles.It did not fit into the older 1999.5-2000 model year plastic housing that flips on a hinge on the back of the battery box.For those owning an early MkIV car like mine, you will need to get the main fuse box retainer, part "1J0915345C", to hold this piece down securely. Sadly, as of this writing, this retainer is not for sale on Amazon.ca/Amazon.com. If your wire was as frayed as mine was, you can afford to change this part now, and hunt down the other part later -- once the red wire breaks, the car won't start, among other problems.That said, the part did fix the key problem that these cars can have with this part: The red wire bends and frays and will eventually detach from the terminal that bolts onto the accessory bolt of the positive battery terminal. Also, the ring terminal for this new Doorman part leads the wire/terminal onto the positive battery terminal that doesn't stress the red wire near as much as the older style originally on my car, so this part may well last much longer without the same stress damage to the wire.

Buy this here and do not waste your money at the VW dealer. I did have to shave a little plastic off with a razor to fit an aftermarket 2-guage alternator cable on my mk4 VW GLI. YOU MUST REPLACE the alternator cable with a heavier duty (2-guage) cable on a VW Jetta if your fuse box melted. It melted due to the thin alternator wire VW uses. Cheap and relatively easy fix!

Great Fuse Box, comes with all the Fusible links, very happy with it, good replacement for a very common problem on VW Jettas. Important suggestion to those who are replacing this box because it melted is to make sure you thoroughly scrub the terminals, nuts, bolts and eyelits of the alternator cable on both ends otherwise it will likely melt the box again. Cleaning up the electrical grounds, most of which can be found underneath the battery bolted to the body will solve any "alternator" issues one is having with this car. A car with a no load @ idle charging voltage of 13.5V-14.7V but experiences major voltage sag when there is a heavy electrical load such as High beams, fans + rear defroster likely has dirty electrical grounds.

I am not car-savvy in the least; I don't work on cars, I don't fix them up, I don't even know how to change my own oil. But after discovering that the fuse box on top of the battery in my '99 VW Jetta was melted, I bought this replacement.All it took was a 10mm socket wrench, and it replaced the old one almost perfectly! However, I did have three minor issues:1) This box is shaped slightly different than the one I had in my car originally, so it doesn't snap into the bottom base (rather, it just sits on top of the battery, sort of loose), 2) I needed to change the first fuse since the original one was 150 and the replacement was 110 (all the others were correct) and 3) It takes a little bit of finagling to make the wired bolts get screwed into the new plastic slots.Other than those three minor things, this box is perfect! It fixed my car's problem, it came very quickly, and it's incredibly easy to install, even for people like me with no prior mechanical experience!
