This is a very basic mat, as expected, but the build on it seems less than I would expect for an average basic mat, which is the reason for the two stars - it's just slightly below average, but does its job of keeping you and your wetsuit off the ground.As far as the "durable" part, I don't know that it is going to hold up to a whole ton of use, it's just not that confidence inspiring. The material is not particularly thick and does not feel all that robust. It's just OK, although I do not have any holes or tears yet. So far so good, but I could definitely see this getting cut/punctured by a rock underfoot or something, and if that happens, it's gonna spread.While it is clearly intended to be basic, for the $20-ish sticker price, it probably should have one or two features - namely, some handles like some of the other mats in the price range, and that would make it easier to carry with a heavy-ish wet wetsuit. As it is, it just kind of needs to be bunched up and carried underarm or by the cinched cord, which is not super comfy when loaded down since the cord is pretty thin.To sum, it's pretty much what you might expect for a very basic "generic" mat. For the price I think it could offer a bit more features and the quality could be improved. Overall, it's not terrible, and it does its job, I just hope it lasts for a little while.

My son and I have used this on several surfing trips and it does the trick.However, the material of this is rather thin (it's akin to material used in car sunshades) and I am not entirely sure if this will last long. It will be good to use on smoother surfaces. Realistically, surfaces when you're using this will be rough, so I think that it will be good to practice being mindful of the surfaces this will used on.What I like about this is that it's super lightweight, so it's good to transport around and doesn't take up too much space in your bag.
