I needed another large glass storage container and decided to try this one.I have a number of large glass mason jars that have a hinged metal glass lid and seal. Their biggest drawback is the opening isn’t large and there aren’t any handles. This container has nice handles and a larger opening.Unfortunately, the lid on this container is some kind of composite plastic that doesn’t feel very sturdy (compared to my glass and metal mason jar lids), and it isn’t even dishwasher safe (they recommend hand washing). Also, the lid has two vents (?) on the top. There’s no insert/directions that comes with it to explain their purpose (the sales description points to one as a one-way exhaust valve, but nothing on the other one). There are four non-adjustable plastic/composite clamps that hold the top down, which also don’t feel sturdy, and since they’re not adjustable you can see they may not pull the lid down optimally. The handles are nice. It comes with the silicone pad so when you put it down it helps you from hitting the surface too hard and breaking it.The clear glass is nice, because you can easily see your food and how much is in there, but sunlight doesn’t help with food storage, so you’ll need to keep it in a dark/closed pantry or wrap something around the glass.The glass jar should last “forever”, and time will tell how well the lid holds up.

Plus, who knew my sugar could look so chic? It’s like I’m hosting a fancy dinner party every time I pull out the ingredients, and I’m just waiting for the paparazzi to show up!

It's big, very big. I don't think I have ever seen a locking container this large. It will hold 10 pounds of rice or flour. It barely fits under my cabinets. The design is a like a big, glass Loctite container with a wide mouth. I love it. It seals well and is of the best quality. Since the mouth is big enough to stick your whole hand in, it's easy to use.However, I can buy four high-quality glass containers for about the same price - one 2-gallon, two 1.5-gallon, one 1-gallon. This is not the best value. When I first saw the picture with six of these on shelves, I thought it was a set. It's just one. I wouldn't recommend buying a set for over $500.

The heftiest of all the jars I own!This big boy packs a punch with its content capacitor and secure lid design. It's very sturdy and fits an entire bag of Costco Flour (10 lbs as advertised). I got it bc I make sourdough in bulk and am always needing a secure way to store my flour that doesn't take up so much counter space and that's secure enough that I don't have to worry about pantry moths. This fits the bill for all my needs. Don't love the price point, but also you get what you pay for and in this case, I think it's worth it

This is a seriously heavyweight and large lead-free glass storage jar. I had not realized just how big it was until I received it. It measures almost fourteen inches tall, buy eight and one-half inches in diameter. The tightly sealing lid is over six inches wide. According to the manufacturer, this jar will hold ten liters of material - that is well over two and one-half gallons in volume, and I believe it!It comes with a measuring cup and a non-slip silicone pad that I assume is intended to place underneath the jar while sitting on your shelf or in your pantry. This storage jar is quite likely to be durable and useful, if you have the space for such a large item. It will likely hold rice, flour, sugar, coffee beans or cereal for a large project or crowd. I like it.

This glass jar is mammoth and heavy--the result of its size and quality glass and metal construction. It's easily the largest vessel I have ever owned for food storage. We get 20 lb. bags of rice at Costco, and this is the perfect item to keep it fresh and pest free for as long as it lasts. We keep it in our storage room in the basement and use the accompanying measuring cup to fill up a smaller tub that we keep on a shelf in our pantry.Works great and should last forever with normal care. Highly recommended!

I was so impressed by this jar. The glass its of is thick walled and heavy duty, but the thing that really stands out is the closure. The double clamp system allows easy access while maintaining an air-tight seal. I used the opportunity to buy a 20lb bag of basmati rice and almost the whole bag fit in to the jar. The lid also has a spinner that gives you a place to date the contents. This is a high quality item that has a significant improvement to traditional glass jar closures and promotes repeated opening and closing for regular use.
