Oil level markings very nice. Does the job. I think it only goes one direction to seat it.

This replacement will not fit this model of VW. If you have the 2008 GTI Golf engine BPY you definitely require the dipstick that has more of the rectangular block tip with a smaller piece a few inches above that block tip. This one has a flat curved tip without the smaller piece above it. So the dipstick does not go all the way in and protrudes outside of the dipstick funnel.

Interface that said it was the same as what it replaced was way off. Far too long and dissimilar to the old one. But, it felt substantial if it fits your car Iām sure it is a good dipstick..
