These are great trainers. They are more forgiving than the traditional rattan, but they still really thump are aren’t soft. They have been great for drills and we like how the reflective tape helps visual tracking.

The grip is not very great. And I should’ve read the description but when I see the words “Cold steel” I assume the product has some kind of metallic allow. It’s literally just plastic??$27 for one stick? You’re better off getting a pack of polyester and rubber kali sticks in a bundle for $19.99… this is a rip off imo.

I like the balance of this item. Ive been using it relentlessly with my students, I can let loose a little for my more senior students and i can control the amount of force that gets delivered during sparring, also even when i left it outside in the cold and rain by mistake, it functioned properly. Mind you its winter time so I was expecting it to crack or have some kind of integrity issue. t’s been a solid addition to my training I.Quality and PerformanceThe high-impact polypropylene construction makes it incredibly durable, perfect for intense training without worrying about splintering or breaking. The weight and balance feel great—light enough for speed work but sturdy enough for power drills.Ease of UseFeels comfortable in hand with a smooth finish that won’t tear up your palms. Great for solo practice, partner drills, and even light sparring.Final ThoughtsA reliable training tool for anyone practicing Filipino Martial Arts. It mimics the feel of a real stick while offering extra durability. Highly recommend! If anything changes, I’ll update my review.

Much lighter than the real thing, of course, but you don't want to strike too hard for training purposes anyway. Good amount of padding. Stiff enough to use for both striking and blocking.

This stick has almost no padding, not good for sparring. Has flex compared to a rattan stick, but there are much better soft sticks available for training with a partner.

I got a pair of these on sale, and given the quality of the sticks, I'd have returned them if I paid full price. My problem with them is that the plastic core tubing is thin, flexes slightly (mine arrived with a slight bend in them) and feels like they'd break in solid training by adults. The foam rubber coating is nice in terms of quality and providing a slip resistant grip. It might have been a little thicker to soften impacts since these are training weapons. The silver tape rings are good quality and do their job in regards to aiding visibility also.Cold Steel has marketed itself for decades as a high end provider of live and training weapons though, and the flimsy feel of these escrima sticks is a let down. Doubly so with Ron Balicki's name attached to them.

No tienen el branding de Cold steel por ningún lado, pero están muy buenos para entrenamiento parecen ser muy resistentes con el uso a ver qué sucede.

These are firm, but still somewhat soft trainers that are great for stick grappling due to them having just the right amount of flex, and squish to not be painful, but not so soft they wrap around an object.Great for light sparring, and honestly good for harder sparring, but might be too hard for some folks.Really nice, and hold up well against rattan, and other synthetic sticks.

These are the Balicki light weight trainers (Balicki himself was showcasing them on a zoom lesson I had with him recently). I have the harder (and heavier) Balicki sticks and also these trainers. They are good at what they are for, light training and sparring. One broke after about 4 or 5 months of regular use against Rattan sticks (lasted longer than my Rattan trainers to be honest). To know which one you are getting look at the design. Two silver rings at one end, light weight trainers. Only one on both ends, harder and heavier give your forearm a workout will snap a rattan stick quickly Balicki sticks. Both are Cold Steel products (you can find both on the cold steel site)
