I like the design and the weight, but it is not durable at all. One of the 2 rivets holding the head on fell out after a few uses, and the other is loose. Unusable until repaired.

Worse quality I have ever purchased. The head has 2 "rivets" that hold it on. However, they are not rivets at all. They seem to be just a aluminum pieces, one male one female that are glued to one another. Well, 20 minutes into using mine, one of these completely fell off and I had to install a machine screw with a nut in order to continue using it.Do NOT buy this, spend the little extra and get a FISKAR or a lot extra and get the OCHSENKOPF.

If you are a firewood user, like myself, this pickaroon is a handy tool to pick and pull firewood forward from the back racks in the woodshed. When my 40-year-old pickaroon broke and I chose this for the replacement. It's a stout tool for a good price, for a specialized job.

After using the Stilh pickaroo i wanted one but it was double the price of this tool. So thought I would give this a try. This tool is nice but cheap. The handle is made of light metal and at the attachment point is mounted in plastic and started to come apart within hours of use. Save your money and buy a good one. I wouldn’t have bought this if I had had an opportunity to have tried this before purchasing.

My trusted 35 year old hooks were deserving retirement so I set about finding a replacement pair. These seemed closest to what I was looking for so I took a chance. It's taken some time to adjust to the added length 28" vs 26" on my old wood handled jobs. I prefer the dogleg handle and these have a pronounced curvature that fits that criteria. The handle hooks aren't a problem as I tend to choke up slightly on the grip, force of habit after so much time. I've yet to find a use for them, however. The grip itself is positive and comfortable. The heads are both longer and of a different design than I'm used to. They seem to function well enough but have a tendency to not penetrate well unless in line with the wood grain. This again may be a function of changing ways after so much muscle memory and habitual use. A little touch up on a grinder should help that. Another thing I've noticed is after you move a split you have some issue getting the head OUT of the wood, spruce and hemlock in my case. I've no sense yet as to how they'll function in frozen wood. For lifting rounds they make decent handles. The weight is fine and they seem solid units, they aren't flimsy or plasticky feeling in use. That was a concern. The color is somewhat obnoxious but makes for easy identification among the natural surroundings, increasingly important for old eyes. There is no identifiable branding of any sort on the tools.Overall I'm satisfied so far. Decent value for the price. After further use I'll stick with what I've said so far but will emphasize the need to touch up the hook points with a grinder until you get the effect you want from them. These tools would be better off with shorter hooks with less upturn in the points but otherwise are decent designs.

Long story short... I had a ton of processed, and unprocessed, firewood that I had to move. Now(ish.) Of course, I hurt my back right before I had to get this chore done. I was searching the web for ways to move timber with little effort. I found a YouTube vid by Wranglerstar where he was explaining the pickaroon. Couldn't find one, but found this hookaroon. So, I bought it.Unbelievable!!! This is the best $40 I've ever spent. Aside from a truck, winch, and whatnot, there's no better way to drag timber around. If you're a camper. Love firewood. Maybe you're just old, injured, lazy,or just smart? You need one of these. Can't explain it. Just try it.

It’s not sharp at all, but I’ve got a grinder so I fix that. But it does it’s job.

Stop thinking and buy it. Perfectly designed, super light weight. I’ve used it as intended and it works great. I’ve also used when clearing bushes and weeds as I cut, doesn’t get caught like a rake or hoe. And used it for pulling the stuff out of my pickup at the dump. The only thing is one of the rivets came out, easy fix with a bolt and I also wrap the shaft in areas with hockey tape for when you’re choking up on the handle.
