I was happy to give this product a try to install on the door to our guest room, in case the guests wanted the extra privacy while staying. I was especially happy to see that this worked with the SmartLife (Tuya) app, as I already use a significant number of smart devices on the platform, which meant that it wouldn't be another app (and credentials) that I would need to create to use the smart lock. The overall installation of the lock is straightforward, especially if you have experience with lock installations from before. The included instructions (especially the quick start guide - I would say go straight to the manual, as it is much more detailed there) are meh, but I was able to figure out the installation pretty easily; I would say that I had everything done in about 15 minutes or so. One thing that caused a little bit of frustration for me was that the battery cover screw needs a pretty thin screwdriver to get into the narrow hole, which forced me to go get another than the one that I had been using. The wiring is also a little long, so you will have to be a bit mindful of it in wrapping it around the screw holes, but other than that, everything else was pretty straightforward.Once the lock was installed and batteries inserted, the SmartLife app found the device automatically, and I had the lock set up in my app in less than a minute. The default settings are for the lock to auto-lock after 5 seconds, which I changed to just be in an unlocked status at all times (there is "Always Unlock" mode that you can set); I will update this back when we do have guests that want to set up their own privacy code and have the doors auto-lock behind them. You can also lengthen the auto-lock timing to something longer if you find 5 seconds to be too short. The keypad and fingerprints also work as described; the fingerprints are a bit sensitive, so you do want to make sure you are following the instructions in terms of getting all the angles. My main reason for the star off is that I found the keypad to be a bit too difficult in terms of whether I had pressed the number or not. The number buttons are small, and I wasn't really getting a consistent feeling of whether a number had been pressed or not, leading me to duplicate or miss some numbers while entering in the code. Maybe this is something that I will get used to with time, but given that I am going to be using this with guests as well, I will have to see how others think about the keypad before deciding to keep the lock on.Overall, I am pleased with how the installation went and the functionalities around it, especially in terms of its integration with SmartLife. I wish the keypad was a bit better though, and I will have to see whether it becomes problematic with guests or not.

Installation straight forward; if you're replacing an existing door knob, drops right it. If door is not true standard, might have to do a little modifying; i had to sand down just a little to get the locking mechanism to slide in smoothly. One note as mentioned in previous reviews, need to be careful when inserting the back cover plate, so the wire doesn't fall out of the control boards; just make sure the lights on the handle light up before screwing back on the cover plate.Programming was easy-peezy from the app! Will be ordering a second unit!!!
Ooh, shiny gadget.

Over the last year, I've been fighting with a smart deadbolt because after a year of use, it started to eat through the batteries after just a couple of weeks. This deadbolt was on the main entry that we use to get in and out of the house and as such, it was being used many, many times throughout the day. I tried a few different solutions to fix this problem, such as lithium rechargeables that actually output 3.7V and even jerry rigged a solar panel up to a lipo battery which worked for a bit.I gave up and decided to go a different route. I purchased this Kadonio fingerprint door lock as it is a door-knob style lock and had all the features that I needed. I wanted the ability to have code access in addition to fingerprint and I wanted a lock that was easily programmable via an app.In older generations of smart door locks, the devices were programmed through various key presses on the lock and it took a hassle to add and remove people. These newer generation locks work fully through an app, which meant that adding and removing people are as simple as tapping on your screen. The app in question here is Tuya, which I'm happy to report has been updated since those first-generation locks to be able to do all the functions that I talked about.A smart deadbolt has to move a lot more mechanical parts so they will always use more battery power than a knob, that's obvious, but another disadvantage is that they have a hard time detecting when the door is closed without an additional sensor. Most will use a timer where the lock will automatically lock again in a few seconds, but that doesn't work as well as you might assume. With a door knob, the door is simply latched and locked when you close it and the only mechanical part that needs to be moved electronically is the catch that will engage the knob. It's just a simpler device. At night, I still have the tried and true analog deadbolt to keep the door secure.
