I bought these to replace the original Thule Stacker Rack we had on our van, which never really held our two kayaks very tightly, and also made lots of strap noise when driving faster than 40 mph. These J's fold very nicely when not in use, allowing us to park in our garage as normal. They're super easy to install to the roof rack, super easy to fold/adjust, and the straps work just as well, or better than, our Thule straps! Very little to no strap noise when the boats are loaded, and the cushioning foam and rubber are superior! The paddle straps are a very nice bonus, and they work super well, saving even more space in our van's cargo area! Upon initial installation, I did accidentally over-tighten the nuts holding one of the J's to the roof bar, causing the plastic wings to snap off. No big deal, though - we just use a standard ratchet/wrench to tighten that one onto the car now. I live in the northern US, and decided to leave these racks on the van even through this past long, cold, snowy winter we had - they survived very well! Only a little bit of surface rust showed up on two of the J's bolts due to road salt exposure - I'll be removing them for the winter months from now on. Overall, I'm extremely happy with these, and I highly recommend these for their convenience and durability!

This kayak stand is easy to install and comes with straps to secure the kayak, bow and stern lines to affix to car, and as a bonus, trunk and hood straps to affix the ropes. The trunk and hoot straps consist of a solid plastic rod and a loop strap. The rod sits just inside your hood or trunk, and the loop strap pokes out after the trunk or hood is closed, allowing you to hook the supplied rope. The ropes have adjustable ratchets for tightening. The photo is my custom kayak. The kayak was too large for the supplied straps, so I added a ratchet strap of my own.

I hate to write a bad review because the kayak racks are great. They are sturdy, come already assembled, and are easy to put on the cross bars. The only issue is they come with 7 foot straps. They do not even wrap all the way around our kayaks. Plan on buying a set of straps separately, but great other than that.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Easy to put on/assemble, I liked the metal joints (as opposed to plastic on other brands) for collapsing flat, and size of the metal tubing (feels solid, larger circumference than other brands). I drive a Subaru crosstrek and have no clearance issues with the roof. Dislikes-straps are way too short (had to order longer ones) and the spot at the top to hold the tiedowns, doesn’t really hold the tiedowns when your putting the kayaks up.Kayaks supported and felt sturdy when on the car, even at high speeds. Also, got them on sale for prime day so good deal!

Bought this kit to take two 10ft Pelican kayaks on vacation (1100 mile round trip). This has everything you need to fully secure them. J hooks fold down for non-use, bow and stearn rigging lines for safety, and cinch straps. My only complaint is the straps were too short to run with "standard" setup with my kayaks so I had to run with half strap over, half strap under with a wrap around at the top of the bar (hence 4 stars). Didn't matter much as it still held well at 70+ mph for 9 hours. There's even a strap keeper at the top of the J hook. They could of made it a little tighter as the straps would easily fall out of it without tension, but the thought was there. I would even feel confident transporting locally without the bow and stearn rigging. The price was great for the full kit. Materials seemed good quality and look like they should hold up over time. I was a little hesitant since it didn't have many reviews and the ones that were there were from folks who were supplied gratis. I feel it was a good buy though.
