Not a great splitting axe, but performs well for forestry work. The quality is great.

Consigliata.

I got this Axe on a recommendation, This axe sharpen well, my axe didn't come sharp. but now it is, When I put on that faux leather sheath the corner sliced it. I still give it a 5 stars, it would be better if the axe came wtih a real leather sheath, came in fast and on time

If you are a woodsman, or even a weekend camper, or a serious carpenter like myself, you are able to appreciate a quality made axe. This axe is better than I expected, and can find very little wrong with it. It's well balanced, and the fit and finish is as good as you will find in much higher priced Scandinavian made axes. The only small draw back I found with this axe is where the hickory handle fits into the axe head, wasn't as I would have hung the head. The manufacturer has chosen to use both a wedge and two round axe rings to secure the axe head to the handle, but they have also epoxied the handle into the axe head as well, and that is not something I wanted to see, only because if I ever want to change the handle if it falters or breaks, then I have to spend and extra step in making sure the interior of the axe head is free and clear of the epoxy. But on a scale of 1 to 10, this axe is a true 8.5 Happy chopping to all of you interested in this axe. Understand that this axe head has also been lacquered and painted, so you'll need to grind off some of this in order to put a sharp edge on this axe head.

This is a German made axe that is much better quality than the more expensive ones. It is a great design and I was really impressed with the manufacturing thereof. The axe came finished absolutely perfect....just like in the picture. The people who make these axes really must take pride in their work and strive for perfection. NO need to take a file to this axe head to make it look better as had to do for other axes. It will be a total pleasure to own such a fine looking and functional axe. The cutting edge comes very sharp....ready for use.

High quality Axe. Grain orientation of the handle is very good, but not perfect (slight twist). Holds its edge well after sharpening. The edge needed a little work before getting real sharp. This 1250g head is a little light for felling or splitting anything bigger than 6-8 inches depending what you are cutting (ie maple). Overall, much better than what you could usually find of retail axes.

What an awesome axe! Everything I've watched in evaluating an ax from WrangleStar, this is a great axe. For about $100 you can't beat it. Came with a well finished edge. I was able to shave my arm with it. Chopped through an old telephone pole like nothing. Kept a decent edge. Only thing that is not 5 star worthy is the blade cover. Cheap and not leather. So the axe gets 5 stars the bit cover gets 1 star.
