The markers move smoothly, I used them for the first time today but the outline is not as colorful as I have seen with other companies markers. The price was good, so I can’t say I really need to complain. If they have a smell, I could not detect one.

I'm still trying to figure out how these markers work. When used on white paper, each marker creates a broad, shimmering, silvery line that is magically outlined in the colour of the marker cap. Example: select a green marker, prime it properly, and then draw a line on white paper. Your line will consist of a shining silver line perfectly outlined in the green shade of the marker. When used on a smooth white surface, such as a coffee mug, the effect is more normal -- lines or lettering only in the colour of the cap. And the effect seems to vary in degree, depending on the kind of surface you choose. There is a bit of fussiness that goes with using these markers. As described on the product listing page, again on the marker box, and even on the individual markers, before writing or drawing with the marker, it is necessary to shake it several times to mix the ink inside, and then press gently on the nib (point) to release the pressure (?), and then prime the marker by pressing it up and down until the nib fills with ink. This took me no more than three primings for each effort, but it is necessary before the markers will display their magic. The last step in the process is the need to close the marker promptly after use, and close it tightly. There is an audible "click" when the marker is properly closed. I have never seen anything like this. This really is a remarkable product, at least to me. I am sure that most adults and any children old enough to appreciate the strangeness involved would love to have a set of these Shimmer Markers. Believe me, the photos on the product listing page give you a rough idea of the effect, but they do not fully show the jewel-like lustre of that central line with its perfect border of colour. Even though I am very impressed by these markers, there are a couple of issues that I need to mention. The information on the box states that the markers are odourless, and I do not find that to be the case. I am able to detect a faint but definite smell of something like rubbing alcohol, or maybe nail polish. The other issue is simply the fact that when used on standard white printer paper, the marker colour does bleed through to the other side of the paper. So . . . don't sniff the markers, and position your paper on a sheet of cardboard or newspaper. I am very pleased to have found these markers.

My wife does a lot of different crafts, and I thought I would order these to surprise her and add to the markers she uses for card making, scrapbooking, and other crafts. She was surprised, as I did not realise she was unfamiliar with outline pens, and she put them aside to look at later.I looked up "outline markers" and learned that the ink is two colours in one stroke, where the ink naturally separates from the centre to the edge.I like how the instructions are printed on each pen, but there is nothing to warn you that the ink bleeds through paper, and you should have something protecting the surface from staining. My testing was done on a note pad, and the outline ink bled through four pages. My wife uses thicker cardstock for cards and scrapbooking, but I would expect that due to the bleed-through, she will use these on pieces of cardstock that are cut out and pasted onto a card or scrapbook page.

This is a pretty cool set of markers. The markers apply silver ink in the centre of the line, with coloured edges! This kind of colour feature was a first for me.The markers are attractive, easy to use, and the inks are great. A nice silver centre, with pretty edge colours. My kids are quite happy with them, and they add a nice touch of colour whatever project you're working on!Pretty cool!5/5

I've been trying to get better at cursive and lettering in general, and these are a fun little gimmick to make my practice sheets look a little more zazzy. The pens automatically create a coloured edge around the silver ink, so you end up with nicely outlined strokes that make your writing pop. It's also just really cool to do, it's like magic! I don't entirely get how they work, but work they do. Lots and lots of colours with some nice shine, and no issues with ink flow or flooding. Great addition to my pen collection.

These markers are awesome. They are magical in the way that they provide color as well as the silver with the outline. My daughters have been asking for these for quite some time so when they arrived they were both really excited. The ink is similar to a wet paint, so if you have thin paper I'd suggest putting cardboard underneath it, as it does soak into the paper decently. Aside from that they draw beautifully! Also, important to note, you definitely need to keep the markers standing upright with the lid on. Otherwise, some of the ink does leak out. Overall we're really pleased
