The ramp is too steep and will not hold on so my guinea pig is not able to climb to the top. I have tried multiple ways to try and make it work but it does not work.

Easy to assemble and lightweight. Exactly what I was looking for and plenty of room for his big booty.

This small pet home comes with a small pack of rubber bands, a wooden ramp, a small cushion, and a small blanket. In my opinion, the rubber bands are mostly pointless. I found no need to use them to secure the house wall piece notches in place, as I ended up needing to use a mallet to get the notches completely inserted. Therefore, I really don't think the house is going to fall apart under normal circumstances, but I still appreciate the thoughtfulness of including them. The ramp, which can also be used as a bridge, is made from a wooden board. This board's surface is sanded quite smooth to prevent splinters, etc. There are several small logs attached to the surface in order to give small pets some traction when traversing the ramp. The general size and strength of the ramp is sufficient for small pets to use, such as guinea pigs and dwarf rabbits. The ends of the ramp have notches cut into them to create a more stable attachment point. As you can see in my photos here, both the house and the ramp have a row of castle style ramparts. The ramp is meant to be positioned so that these ramparts interlock with the ramp end. Theoretically, this should work great for holding the ramp in place. And it does. So long as it's only ever just sitting there. However, without the use of, or help of, a 3rd object, such as the included rubber bands, the normal daily movements and activities of small pets, such as guinea pigs, causes enough turbulence as to make it possible for the ramp to get knocked out of place. My guinea pigs are constantly knocking the ramp off it's position. Therefore, the ramp definitely requires the use of the included rubber bands or some other pet safe method of securing it in place. The house itself has several pieces needing assembly. While not complicated to figure out where the pieces belong, especially thanks to the included diagram, it is still fairly difficult to successfully assemble by oneself. This is due to the awkwardness of maneuvering and holding pieces in place while also gently tapping the pieces with a mallet to get the notches firmly connected. It took me quite some time to do this by myself. Also, as you can see in my photos here, even after complete assembly, there are still some thin gaps between some pieces. I am uncertain if this is just the way the pieces were cut out, or if this is just my own apparrent lack of assembly skill. As an assembly recommendation, do not wait till the end of assembly to connect the roof or it won't slide into position due to the tabs and notches no longer having enough space to get into proper position. Also, be very careful while using mallets to force the notches together. While the wood is fairly strong, so as to support the weight of small pets, it doesn't handle so well the sudden pressures and forces of hammering it too hard. I included an example photo somewhere here, of the outcome of making such a mistake, as I did manage to accidentally break part of a corner notch off during assembly by hammering it too hard. So do be mindful of that. The fabric of the blanket and the cushion both appear to be of fairly good quality, even though they are a bit thin. Both also have excellent stitching quality. The blanket has a pet themed pattern on one side and only the base color of grey on the other side. The cushion also has a pattern on only one side, which is like a tye-dye theme. The reverse side is the base color (although colors and patterns could have multiple options). While there is some sort of padding layer sewn inside, it is quite thin. Due to this, I would think that the padding does not provide very much cushioning, and therefore is likely not the optimal option for the best comfort level of small pets when used on a hard surface, such as ontop of the ramparts of the pet house. The fabric, however, is smooth and soft enough to be comfortable for small pets to walk on.So while this pet house kit is definitely a good quality item, there are also a couple areas that could be improved. Otherwise, my guinea pigs are happy and enjoying this addition to thier little guinea pig village. 4 out of 5 stars.
