At first attempt it got loose at 3Nm as per manual after tightening the top cap screw. Adjusted to 4Nm and tried again. Seems everything is fine. Tried in 10km ride without issues. Will try on 100km this coming weekend.

only thing is you need about a 1cm spacer on top for there to be enough space for the stem cap.

A very well thought out design for carbon steering tube. This Fouriers expander plug replaced my OEM plug on my Cervelo R2. I felt a little uneasy knowing that the OEM plug was only about an inch or more, so I decided that my investment needed something more stable. I originally replaced the OEM plug with a longer Specialized expansion plug, but found that it would loosen up after several rides. I torqued it to 9nm as instructed, but to no avail it would still loosen over time. I then tried a couple other options and found that the top of the plugs would require the addition of another head tube spacer. I switch between a 5mm and 10mm headset spacers for seasonal riding. I loose flexibility I noticed in the winter months so in with the 10mm, and in with the 5mm as my riding progress and flexibility increase during early spring through fall. However, I would have to add a 2mm spacer to compensate for the plug head thickness. This Fouriers Expander plug didn’t require me to add the additional 2mm spacer, in return keeping a cleaner headset appearance. Great Strong Product!

Not good. I installed this on my titanium gravel bike for extra assurance compared to the shorter cane creek the bike came with, and to accept a custom top cap. The sleeve that goes around the expander failed after 3 months of riding twice a week under light conditions, and the expander began pulling out of the fork. It was properly torqued and everything. Had this pulled out while I was riding I could have been killed. Terrible piece of garbage. Do not buy it if you value your safety. I will be going back to the cane creek one that came with the bike. It is shorter, but at least it worked. I wish I could give this zero stars.

Size and fit as per the description. It replaced the fsa headset cap pictured, which had an aluminum top that was completely shredded by a steel Allen wrench. This one seems more sturdy and I like that there’s no opening in the top so it’ll be better at keeping the elements out.

Fits perfect, great price. No issues on a whiskey fork - Foundry auger. Use it regularly on some rough gravel and it hasn’t loosened or had any issues. Better than OEM

One year update:Updating to change rating from 5 stars to 3. Slips upwards and does not hold the compression. One of the two jobs this thing has. The other job of protecting the tube from getting crushed by your stem and/or breaking while riding, it does well.Awesome long plug for carbon steerer safety. Your plug should extend BELOW your bottom stem clamp bolt!
