i bought this a year ago and finally set it up just to findout that i can’t release the pulley because my ceiling is tall and i can’t get the angle they expect you to be able to get to unlatch the latch. the product itself seems decent quality and would probably work fine if i lad a low ceiling.

Not really hard to install. Took a while to get it mounted to the ceiling and then adjusted properly but now that it is up works like a champ.

The directions at first look intimidating but it goes together easy and is a robust product. Good job Hoister.

I'm average DIY'er homeowner and long time Jeep owner. Project took average of six hours just because I was being extra careful with measurements and placement - as well as working in the evenings to avoid heat of garage in summer. Using hoist to remove and store hardtop for 2003 TJ Rubicon. Top has been sprayed with bed liner so is heavier than stock top. Hoist easily handles the weight. READ the instructions! Even this will leave you scratching your head a bit. Don't untie anything. Lay it out to look at it as if it were mounted. Use plumb lines (even if it's just a pushpin holding a string from the ceiling with a nail on the end). I mounted wood mounting boards to ceiling "cross ways" of roof trusses. However, I installed pulley/rope system to the side instead of to the inside garage wall (instructions call this the front wall, but most of us would say it's the back wall of garage). Also, to get proper length for pulley system I mounted it at an angle. If you're not familiar with knots you should practice the figure 8 knot and how to dress it down so that the loop is longer/shorter. This will help later when adjusting strap length. It helps to put straps through the top where you want them (tape them in place) and then tie ropes to the webbing loops. The main issue i ran into was the welded eyebolt at the ceiling. IT was screwed in almost flush with sheetrock into a header. Upon hoisting top the eyebolt bent. I think if it were screwed in past sheet rock it may not have bent. It looked like it was pulling out of the wood, but was merely bending. I screwed it in a bit further past the sheetrock. I put in second eyebolt next to first, used aftermarket links from big box store with screw not snap ring closures. Had to use two in order to get the correct angle on rope and block and tackle. Connected both eyebolts with the d-ring type shackles and connected these to the included shackle. The top hoists easily and releases easily. It's easy not to trust the system once it's installed and the top is at the ceiling. Putting a cleat on the wall to store your extra rope and keep it from any possiblity of being pulled to the release angle helps with peace of mind. Overall I'm very happy with the entire system and must less in cost than other systems on the market.

I have tried using ratchet straps for a few years now and got tired of them scratching paint off of the hardtop. This was not terribly hard to install but definitely a half day project. I was a bit concerned about the small size being able to adequately support the top but its working very well and seems to be solid. I was able to get the top higher than before and it no longer is at head-bumping height. I love this thing and many others have recommended it. For the price compared to all the other top hoist options, this is by far the best value, great on the top, easy to use, and gets it out of the way.

Great product!!!! Works perfectly and my garage is 8ft tall. If you’ve wanted to take your top off but the other devices have been too expensive, then buy this and have a blast!!

The only way to go topless with a Jeep. I installed one with a buddy in Spring 2018, which started the Jeep fever. Since then a local pilot hired me to put one in her garage, and I took those funds and bought my own. This is a must! Just remember to place your pulleys based on the side panel dimension and not the full length of the top (not super clear in the instructions) Buy this! Easy to lift and re-install later.

This is a very well made product that does what it says. I love that it uses 4 points. I did place some straps for extra caution (per the instructions). It was more of a pain to install than I wanted (and I'm handy at that stuff). Overall, I'm satisfied and happy to get that hardtop off the floor. It is easy to lift and controlled on decent as well. I plan to make a rack or tray and use it for the soft-top storage if I ever use the hardtop.
