The vehicle manufacturers changed to a flat 5 from a flat 4 trailer wire giving an extra circuit. Works great.

Other than that, this is a pretty simple solution to convert from a 5 pin to a 4 pin harness. The pictures are a little hard to tell what this actually is, so it's important to note that you have to wire connect a single wire to your reverse lights, but they include a simple device to do that called a t-tap which clips the wire together - so, no soldering or wire nuts, etc required.

I was a little concerned about how hard it was going to be finding the backup wire to tap into on my Honda Pilot, but that turned out to be quite easily found. There are access panels right in front of the lights on the back gate to open and see the wiring color. Took a few minutes to locate the same wire back at the hinge line, but once I found that, I tapped into it and ran the wire under the trim and voila! Everything works great!

Great, solid little device. Easy to install and works great. Supplied connector works well and wire was plenty long enough to get the job done.

works perfectly! You had to have some knowledge in electricity because you need to find the electric wire for backup light. If you're the kind of do-it-yourself mechanic, it's easy to install.

Worked great. No problems. Instead of attaching the 5th wire to the reverse light, I attached it to the positive side of a cigarette lighter plug. Now when maneuvering the trailer, I just plug it into the accessory plug in the trunk to deactivate the trailer brakes.

Simple to use. You require a helper to put vehicle in reverse and then a Multi meter to find the right reverse wire. Once you find the wire it is a simple attachment. Works great

I wired this into my 2013 Lexus RX350 without incident. It works perfectly for backing up my boat trailer which has inertial braking. I wired the blue wire into the reverse light circuit on my car, and it disables the trailer brakes when I put the car in Reverse.

Pro: Works like a charm, and the steps for installation are dead simple. (Find reverse wire, clamp the splicer onto it.)Con: This took me 3 hours to install, but that's my own fault -- I had trouble accessing my reverse light wires. I accidentally wired it to a blinker first, and then found that I had taken apart the wrong side of the trunk because the reverse light were only accessible from the other side.I have a 2014 Subaru Outback, and this works perfectly in conjunction with the flat-4 I installed previously. (also a 2-3 hour job the first time you try it.) On my vehicle, the brake lights are on the trunk door. The wiring goes up into the main body of the car at the roof, then down the right (passenger) side of the vehicle. I was able to fairly easily remove paneling to access the right clump of wires. Identifying the correct wire was a trick. I had to look at the wires attached to the reverse light bulb. The clump of wires you have to tap into has several wires with similar colors, so double and triple check before you splice.

This adapter worked great with my Jeep Rubicon 2011 Unlimited. I just tapped into my reverse light and this adapter worked great to hook up my big honkin boat trailer. I probably wont ever haul my boat with the Jeep, but it is nice to be able to move the trailer with it. This adapter worked well and had great instructions. For my application, it would have been better if the wire that goes to the reverse light was longer and the wire from the adapter was shorter. Together they are plenty long enough to do the job, but it does cause me to reach up under the Jeep more to disconnect the extra wire from the adapter. Since this adapter is meant to be removable so you can go with either 4-flat or 5-flat, it should be set up for easy removal and installation. Since the wire on the adapter side is long and might be removed, wire tying it for security or support is not a good option.
