It split in two and then totally apart. It hadn't been installed 400 miles ago. I took the car in for safety inspection after driving about 300 miles to reset the computer(check engine light was on and problem resolved) and after that (same day) then drove 40 miles about 9/10th a round trip before the belt shredded. In short- I got to drive the car 3 times after the new belts were installed.

I was going to replace the alternator myself. A bound up alternator burned and broke the perfectly good belt.But I blew my back out replacing steering knuckles, so I called a friend who comes to you.He looked at it and said, "It's too small!" It's not. He got everything put together and we started it up.No Brake and Battery light (indicates alternator fault)I cracked the old alternator open. It swallowed one of the brushes. I could have fixed that.Meh. The car runs.
