So happy with this order! This was definitely a two (arguably 3 if it’s not “too many cooks in the kitchen”) person job to install but the shelves came out sturdy and just as imagined! We were weary that just the drywall studs alone wouldn’t hold the weight of the shelves but with the amount that are needed to put in, they are sturdy as ever. The bars themselves are easy to assemble, took about 2 minutes per rack with no issues.Would definitely recommend.

Realizing I can get piping at HomeDepot, I priced the individual pieces out. About double the cost with HD! Granted, this material is lighter weight, but plenty strong for shelving. That, and you don't have to degrease, clean and paint these, because it's already finished (sort of a brush, matte black look).I installed two sets: 1) Large system taking up a 10'x7' wall; and 2) A 6-shelf 48" wide system. I used 2x10" boards from HD, sanded/stained - they look great! Both are ceiling mounts to give the floor a clean, spacious look.Installation is a little tricky, because you have to connect the pipes as you go; and sometimes, the combination of threading, leveling and getting things snug just makes it a bit cumbersome to work with.My first installation was a learning experience. My 2nd one went a lot quicker, smoother and perfectly level and straight. Here's my suggestion (for ceiling mount as presented with the product):1) Determine your shelving configuration (spacing, count of shelves, etc)2) Measure and mark 11.75" between the wall and the center of a flange. The center hole of the flange makes this easy. Repeat for each vertical pipe you're planning. I installed support braces in the attic, but I think you can get by with 2 screws hitting a joist (must-have) and 2 with anchors.3) Install your first set of vertical pipes screwing it in all the way snugly, as well as your T joint afterwards. Keep in mind, you may have to settle for slightly loose as the threads make it a guessing game. If you're about 1/4 turn shy, you can safely force it a quarter turn, so keep that in mind.4) After you get the first set of horizontal pipes in, check the level and adjust (screw in/out accordingly). For this step, I screwed the wall plate on first, and gently pulled the vertical bar away from the wall as I twisted the flange flat with the wall.5) Create equal distance between the ceiling/wall flange and an adjacent wall. This is now your baseline for the remaining flanges - and as long as you use the already leveled edge of the blue tape, everything will install nice and level/even (minus the variance of manufacturing tolerances).6) Use blue-tape to create a vertically level line from the edge of the wall flange. Use the tape as the baseline for subsequent levels.- Temporarily position each wall flange, mark the anchor holes and twist out of the way.- Install the anchors and twist the flange back, and screw in.7) As you install each segment, check the levelness and adjust accordingly (i.e. screw the pipe in/out, but make sure you have enough threads for strength. Don't forget to check horizontal and vertical.8) Don't mind the few, unavoidable loose sections as the weight of the planks will keep things from rattling/moving.* Keep in mind, pipes and the style/method of threading isn't designed for ultra-precision, so you'll have to make some concessions when you're adjusting - knowing that once everything is installed, very few will be able to tell anything, unless they're informed.

I ordered the 2 piece set at $88.00. It arrives well packed in organized size pieces. I am a 60 year old female and although I do attempt a lot of projects I am not a skilled home improver. I opened the box and felt a little intimidated but then I went back to the amazon listing for this product and read the reviews again and looked at ad photos. There are no directions in the box but when you get started it is just a matter of screwing the threaded pipes together. The hardest part for me was getting my measurements right. I measured the wall; divided it in half and from the half way mark I measured equally from the left and then right of the mark to know where I was going to place it. You decide how far or close you want the pipe ends for your space. At that point it is just screwing in the pipe face plates to the ceiling and wall and screwing the pipes together. I screwed the pipes in small increments to make it easier for me to screw into wall and ceiling. Get a pencil and mark your wall to make it easier.I measured pipe to pipe and added a little overhang so I would need a plank 5 foot in length and my choice for width of the plank was 8 Inches. I could have gone 10 inch width. I went to Home Depot and got pine wood plank. They custom cut it for me, less than $20.00 for the wood. I came home and gave it a quick stain. For me it took about 1 1/2 hours plus the Home Depot trip. I used only 2 shelves because I felt my space would be overwhelmed. It is perfect, modern looking fixer upper for little money. I did this by myself without any assistance.

When I asked about options for an 8” deep shelf instead of the standard 12” I was surprised to hear from the manufacturer directly to customize the product to my specifications. So 10 days later I had my custom shelving unit delivered at no additional cost.Assembly instructions were included but not installation instructions so here’s my suggestions.-warning, I’m not a professional handyman and there could very well be a better way to install these shelves. In fact I’m so not a pro that I mistakenly ordered 8” deep shelves for my 1 X 8 and the manufacturer gently asked if what i really wanted was 7 1/4 “ shelves!I started the install by assembling and marking holes for just the first shelf and top connector. Then adding on one shelf section at a time. This gave me the chance to decide if I wanted 3 or 4 shelves since I’m installing them over my desk. In the end I went with 4 shelves.I didn’t have much luck with the included screw anchors, maybe because I was using a screw gun and kept pushing the anchors through the wall. I wanted to use the included black screws though so I tried using them with regular flanged anchors but the screws tore them up. I ended up using the black screws when ever I was screwing into a beam and my own chrome colored screws with my own anchors and then blacking out the heads with a sharpie- a trick from theatrical set building. I didn’t pay too much attention to the orientation (rotation) of the screw holes unless I was on a stud and then I made sure I orientated them vertically as shown in the instructions.I’m not worried if a few screws didn’t grab hold. After all, there are 40 screws fastening the unit to the wall!I still have to stain them and I’m planning to add LED tape light under the bottom shelf for a desk work light and on the top of the top shelf just for a decorative indirect light source in the evenings. Not sure I’f I’ll route out a groove in the bottom board - I have request in to a local woodworking shop, or add a piece to mask them.As you can probably tell Im super happy with the installation and how they turned out.
