I did not realize one can repair a torn, worn cone speaker relatively easily. Removing the old glue from the frame took must of the time but the repair went well and the speaker sounds like new. If your foam/ rubber surrounds are torn and rotted you can make them new again with just a bit of patience and some careful work...

I was intimidated because I had never repaired a speaker before. I was online looking for a speaker replacement and came across these and decided to try it. It was easy and the sound was great. I am officially a speaker technician

I have used Simply Speakers surrounds before without issue but not this time. This is the third time I've refoamed speakers, so no big deal, right? The last time doing this was probably 10 years ago, so I didn't remember the consistency of the glue. As I started to squeeze the glue tube it was very thick and hard to come out. I squeezed a bit more and about 20% of the tube squirted out and got all over the speaker and our dining table. What a freaking mess! The speakers will function alright but I will never be able to sell them as it looks like a 5 year old did the work and our beautiful dining table took over an hour to clean and is still not perfect. Beware, if the glue does not flow at first squeeze away from your project. Not happy at all!

My old infinity speakers surround deteriorated and my speakers sounded terrible. After much consideration I ordered the simply speaker kit and watched their online instructions and it was easy! Definitely the help videos are a must watch to make the process successful and easy. It really is as easy as it looks. And now my speakers are as good as new!

I found the process a bit messy since I'm not patient gluing things. It is messiest though scraping off the old glue. I used rubbing alcohol and a wood chisel (as was recommended). It does gum up the wood chisel so if you are fussy about that use a cheap one. It really made it easy to get the old glue off by using the chisel. The glue has toluene and hexane so do use it in a ventilated area as advised. My Infinity Reference 6 speakers bass now sounds good again. I notice that the other smaller speakers are starting to develop holes in the foam (sigh) so I'll be ordering the next size kit soon...

I had no issues with the foam repair kit. I used lacquer thinner to get the old foam off the speakers, which was very effective, and the new adhesive and instructions that came with the kit worked fine. Some kits describe the need to remove the voice coil dust cover and use shims to accurately center the driver so that it doesn't scrape on the voice coil (which would clearly be bad). This kit didn't describe any such steps, but rather had you center the speaker over the voice coil by feel. The adhesive takes a few minutes to set up, so there's ample time to work the driver up and down while it is curing, and to ensure that it's properly centered. It worked fine for me.
