The tapered handle is designed with a flared taper at both ends of the mallets, creating an excellent balance and durability. Graduated in length, these models allow players on any size drum to easily achieve correct beater placement and supreme sound quality, while giving a feel that may be more familiar to many players. These mallets are constructed out of Heartwood hickory for increased durability and extra hard felt heads with no flat spot for strong articulation and durability.

I dislike how IP mallets fracture (in half usually) at the end of life. I've never observed this with other manufacturer's sticks or mallets which generally split and give you some more playing time before leaving you for dead. Not IP sticks and mallets. They tend to shear in half and you're left holding the useless half of a relatively expensive mallet. We use these because we're told to by the school but would be far from our first choice.
