Ordered to replace the same design regulator. This one is bigger than what I had but maybe it will last longer.

This unit is the same as the one pictured except it has no label or directions. Since I was using this to upgrade an older mower, I had to figure it out and thought it would be good to pass on what I learned. The connection on the far left which is slightly offset from the other four is the B+. It should be wired directly to the battery positive terminal or to the Amp gauge if you have one so that it is hot all the time. The GND connection is the metal case and must be wired to chassis ground if not firmly mounted on grounded metal. The next two connections to the right of B+ are for the two AC alternator/stator leads. The alternator coil MUST NOT BE GROUNDED. Mine had a center tap which was grounded under the flywheel. This connection had to be removed for the regulator to work correctly. The next connection shown as L on the picture is for a warning light that would show when the alternator is not charging. This does not need to be hooked up at all. The last connection labeled IGW must be wired to 12 volt switched power. This turns the regulator circuit on and off with the ignition key. If you wire this hot all the time, the regulator will stay on and drain your battery over time. It works great if you hook it up correctly.
