I wear a lot of merino wool for hiking in all conditions and I love it. I bought these 100% merino wool base layer pants expecting them to be the same as all the other merino wool garments I own from other brands. That was my mistake. The material is scratchy, not soft. The waistband is stiff elastic, and I had to tuck a shirt into the waistband to make it comfortable. I purchased a medium and they are not ankle length, they ride about 3 inches above my ankles. I also bought a Kari Traa merino wool base layer top and I was similarly underwhelmed so it doesn't seem to be unique to these pants. Not a brand for me I guess.
