They worked for my project which was just a few hanger holes. Smoke like crazy on the initial plunge but stopped when moving forward on the cut. First time I used this kind of bit, so maybe they all do but I think its the design.

Quality has been great so far, I was able to make a perfect keyhole for a shelf I made. I’m excited to use the other bits soon for other projects I have in mind.
