Product Description

The Kidde Hardwired Carbon Monoxide Detector with 9-Volt Battery Backup, 3 LED Indicators, model KN-COB-IC, is a carbon monoxide detector that uses electrochemical sensor technology to detect carbon monoxide. The CO detector is powered by a 120-volt power source with a 9-volt alkaline battery backup located in the back of the unit, providing coverage during a power failure. When carbon monoxide is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound and a red LED will flash. A green LED indicates that the alarm is receiving power. Install a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe from fire and poisonous gas. 10-Year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty on the Alarm Only: The warranty begins when the CO alarm is powered on. If that date is unknown, it should be assumed that alarms should be replaced. The 10-year limited warranty is not a battery performance claim. Meets requirements of UL 2034.

Kidde's KN-COB-IC hardwire carbon monoxide alarm with battery backup is interconnectable with 23 other devices for comprehensive coverage. Features
The KN-COB-IC is an essential device to help warn you and your family of dangerous carbon monoxide levels in your home. This alarm measures the exposure to carbon monoxide over time; it is designed to sound at 85 decibels at 10 feet when it detects 70 ppm (parts per million) of CO for 60 to 240 minutes, 150 ppm for 10 to 50 minutes, or 400 ppm for 4 to 15 minutes. The added benefit of being able to interconnect this unit with up to 23 other Kidde devices—such as other CO alarms, smoke detectors, and heat sensors—all on one wiring network delivers extensive protection against fire and carbon monoxide (as well as peace of mind). The 9-volt battery backup provides continuous security if the power goes out. An LED lighting system on the unit signals power levels and sourcing: The green LED is steadily on when AC power is present and will flash every 7 seconds when in battery-only mode; the red LED will flash in unison with the sounder pattern for both a smoke or CO incident, and it will flash once per 30 seconds if the alarm needs service or be steadily on if the alarm is in error mode; and the amber LED will illuminate if the unit is the originating alarm in a CO incident. This device has an expected 7-year lifespan and comes equipped with a 5-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.

This unit replaced on older one in a chain of detectors, so its compatibility as advertised was essential. That it was “new build” was important because smoke and CO detectors age out about 10 years after manufacturing. This one’s “replace before date” should give 10 full years of service.

Getting hard to find at my local Home Depot. And the prices seem to keep rising. However safety for the family is paramount..

Very pleased with this product. It was very easy to replace my original installation of this product, which had a life-span of 11 years by the way. Unreserved recommendation!

I seriously over-thought this process and assumed I'd need an electrician and a few dollars to get all of these detectors assembled and operating normally..The whole process was rather simple and straightforward and took less than about 20-30 minutes as I'm not an electrician..

One of these carbon monoxide alarms was installed in the ceiling of my apartment when I first moved in. After a few months, it started beeping twice every couple minutes. Replacing the batteries did not solve the issue. I looked it up, and it turns out these units have a limited lifespan (8-10 years). When they start beeping 2 times every 30 seconds, it means they need to be replaced.I'm really happy I found this unit on Amazon, since it's the exact same model as the one that was originally installed. When the new one arrived, I saw it has a "UL Listed" sticker on it, just like the old one had, so it's definitely a quality product.Since the new alarm and the old one were the same model, I was able to unplug the proprietary 3-pin AC power connector from the old carbon monoxide alarm and plug it straight into the new one, no electrical work required. The new alarm has been working great for a couple months now, and has a solid green "Online" LED illuminated.I would definitely recommend picking one of these up for $20 if your old one reaches the end of its life.

This is a CO Detector only. It is to be wired into your household circuit, and comes with a battery backup for power loss.Simple to understand and install. Works perfectly and gives a chirping warning when it's time to replace the battery.Because it is not a combo alarm like others on the market, it makes the price much more attractive. From a most highly reputable alarm company. Highly recommended!

The unit was fine and easy to install to replace one that had reached end of life (7 years) so I could use existing base and wiring. First time it started up, it began chirping once every 15 seconds meaning low or no battery. Yes, I had removed the plastic strip protecting the battery. I tested the battery with my multimeter and it measured 0.04V. I then tested a battery from a pack I have and it measured 9.4V. I installed that and everything was working. Amazon kindly refunded me 20% - about $6.35 - for the problem.

I guess it's my own fault but I assumed it was both a smoke and CO detector.

Easy to install. Came with everything you need to hook it up in record time. The battery back up is awesome. Best of all it melds right into the surroundings and you would never know it's there. The alarm is a pulse type alarm so it's not designed to blow your ear drums like some. it's easy to test and make sure everything is functioning. Kidde truly has the best smoke/ carbon monoxide alarms and this particular model is rated for 10 years. Perfect.
