We have so much reed leftover each child of mine made a basket I made some wicker balls and a wreath for my door and still have leftover. Easy to work with once soaked

Once you untie the reeds or whatever the material is called they become a tangled mess. It might be better to have them tied in smaller bunches. It’s taking me quite a bit of time to gather up the pieces neatly to put them away for the next time my granddaughter comes down. I do have to say my granddaughter had a good time making a basket and she is seven years old.

Was happy at first. Tried a few baskets. Reed was hard to work with since it dries out very fast. Should leave instructions on how to keep the reed continuously wet. Don’t see how a child could do this and not get frustrated. Maybe supply wider more flexible reed.

Perfect kit. Made a basket the first day. Great for all ages. Nice quality.

We've been studying Native Americans and American history so we purchased this kit and the kids love it. It does take some time to get the reeds started and reminding to keep them wet. We may purchase another kit to let them make a different basket and then give them as gifts. Everything you need (and more!) to make these.

After using one of these kits myself to make a basket, two things were obvious...they are easy enough for our young grand daughters to use and be successful with the results when finished. We bought two for Christmas presents this year. I'm sure the girls will be delighted. They are great for an eight-year old with a little adult help.

Perfect kit for introductory basket weaving. There are a LOT of reeds. Perfect for 1-4 kids to do an afternoon project and safe enough for them to do it on their own.

Decent kit for the price.I did these things as a boy scout way back when, thought it'd be a good activity for my young daughter on her first camping trip. It fit the bill. The beads were a nice touch; she almost had more fun playing with the beads than making the basket. My only real criticism is you're expected to cut the vertical shafts from the same reed as the horizontal weave. Kits I used before came with separate, sturdier shafts. Aside from the extra steps to cut them, their flimsiness made them less than ideal for the role. But we got it done, and there's enough supplies to do more next time. The included instructions were adequate.
