We have had a few reels for our kites. When we needed another fort a small hand we found this and have been very pleased. The reel rolls smoothly so it is easy to use and doesn’t vibrate when letting out the line. I would prefer if they lock was not aligned with the handle as it can get hard to coordinate both hands in one place (a holding the risk and the other fishing around for the lock knob). Ideally it would be of aligned with a one way latch that allows taking it in but not out.

Arrived with a nut and bolt out but it was in the packaging so I was able to put it back on. It tangles very easily until you get used to it. If the string gets slack in it while flying, it will go outside of the track and get tangled. Once you get the hang of it though, it is an awesome tool for flying a kite. When we got home, I noticed another screw had come loose so I tightened all of them up. Overall it's pretty great, it just takes some getting used to. My 9yr old was even able to use it after showing him how to keep it from getting tangled. It really makes flying a kite and keeping it in the air so much easier.

I bought this for my kid. This reel winder looked nice but just another Chinese product with poor quality materials. I started flying kite and when we tried to reel it back plastic around nut broke. Is just a matter of time before it falls apart. We flew a small kite with 10 mph wind which was not bad at all but this item did not sustain even the minimum. It says 100% back money guaranteed if not happy with product. The only tricky part there is no way to contact them!!!!!! Is a scam. Once you give them your money is over.

We actually bought 2 of these for our little girls but slightly disappointed as it's too heavy even for for adult fingers, and wrist. Being an avid photographer, I just imagine holding up a 600gram metal lens for a good 1-2hours.

I really enjoyed using this winder. It uses rollers instead of ball bearings; we'll see how it holds up to extended use. The first time out the wind was so strong I could barely hang onto it. The line held against the force of wind and me frantically reeling in my kite. All worked well. The larger than most knob on the crank is a big help. With a good stiff breeze you can let the line run out quickly, then slow it down by using your left thumb against the reel. Conversely it's almost as speedy to reel it all back in by turning the crank.I find the fishing line spin connector does keep the line from twisting open, but it's too difficult (hard) to use to attach the kite so I use short loops of thicker line to quickly connect/disconnect different kites to the reel.A good time was had by all.

I was hesitant about buying this from some reviews saying it was too small for their hand. Well I love it!!! Easy to let string out and easy to wind kite back it.

IF you are a regular kite flier, this is the reel for you. Sturdy, easy to use, with all the line you need and more. It can handle the biggest flier and makes controlling and reeling it in a breeze (pardon the pun). So easy to use my grandkids can handle the big boys while in flight. A bit pricey, but well worth the investment. Will last a lifetime of flying.
