About this item

  • provides up to 25% more damping control over original equipment shocks
  • gas-a-just reacts to load changes and adds instant responsiveness on trucks
  • high gas pressure design is perfect for hauling heavy loads
  • monotube design outperforms all other standard shock absorbers
  • unique, air-free, hydraulic unit eliminates performance fade
  • Fit type: Vehicle Specific

The KYB Gas-a-Just monotube truck shock absorber has additional performance advantages over the twin-tube design: It can instantly, automatically adjust to your performance needs and never experiences fade due to aeration. The Gas-a-Just is available as an OE monotube replacement and as an OE twin-tube performance upgrade. The KYB Gas-a-Just has two separate working chambers: An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness & control, and a second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston that provides a comfortable ride during normal driving and adds instant performance on demand.

These fit the rear of the 1954 Hudson Hornet with a very minor modification. The top rear shock bracket is an upside down “U” shaped bracket & the rubber will need to be trimmed slightly, approximately trimming 1/16” off each side. Doing this allows the shock to be slipped up into place. I used a bit of NAPA Sil-Glyde on the rubber & bolt, to make sure it all slid together easily. After mounting the top then cut the band & as the shock lowers slide it over the bottom post. The bottom really doesn’t need to be trimmed but I did trim it as I did the top but I could have skipped the bottom trimming. The photos show the before & after trimming done & mounted shocks. Since the car is having additional work completed before driving I will update my thoughts on how they drive… assuming Amazon will allow it, they haven’t in the past for me.

Put these on the back suspension of a Montero Sport and the car handles and drives fantastic now. It's hard to even push the car downward to test the firmness. On the front suspension I went with the beefier KYB MonoMax shock to support the weight of the 4WD parts. KYB easily outperforms any auto parts store basic shocks - spend the money and enjoy the benefits.

Ok so I have always bought KYB on all my cars they work wonders. I purchase this for a 1999 mitsubishi montero sport 2wd, and so far they are good. I felt the difference right away when I change them. The reason for the 4 starts is that they feel a bit bouncy, however, this only happens when i am driving in dirt at low speeds. If I am doing 40+ or in the HWY they feel great and no problem, even if you driven on pot holes... But I came to realize is not KYB fault. For some reason it doesn't matter what brand it is, if is KYB, Monrou or gabriel or any other brand... all rear shocks feel a bit bouncy. The reason I know this is because I also have another montero but its a 95 and I have use monrou and gabriel on it. Unless you buying the ORIGINALS which cost about 150 each or more from dealer, you will just have to get use to it.I need it something cheap and reliable and KYB has always been there and work wonders. If you looking for something harder or replace the true OEM feel, get the originals or heavy duty ones which cost about 150+ sometimes 200+.

This is a high pressure gas shock similar to Bilstein and Boge only for half the price.I replacing the same shocks on my 1988 Mitsubishi Montero that I've had in Costa Rica for 8 years and have beaten to death ( you can't believe the roads) and the shocks are just finally giving up their mounting bushings.BTW I got a hundred fifty thousand miles out of this pair of shocks
