As mentioned in my review of the extension, there is a good argument for this handle (with its’ accompanying extending arm) over the first-party DJI version, as this combo has both more mounting options and is significantly cheaper. One should also note that this can be used as a “normal” handle for other functions. They could have added in an optional side mount to lean into that versatility. That could increase the manufacturing cost, but with the benefit of being a modular/interchangeable part (and possibly offsetting cost through economy-of-scale). Musings aside, the handle itself pairs well with the extending arm and should absolutely be bought as a set.

I ordered this handle plus a gimbal extension bracket (ASIN B0CBV5H2N6 not included) for use with my Rs3 Mini photographic gimbal. The gimbal plus dSLR's weight is manageable one-handed, but (especially on long shoots) a second handle eliminates hand fatigue and discomfort. The handle has 1/4"-20 standard threaded male and female end connectors. The handle also can provide a padded grip between a dSLR and a tripod.The handle is solidly made from black anodized aluminum with silicone padding; this combination visually matches the Rs3 gimbal's construction. The handle machining is excellent with no scratches or sharp edges. The finger-indented no-slip silicone padding is firm. One handle end is a 1/4"-20 standard male connector with six (no twist) ARRL locating holes that attaches to the gimbal extension bracket (or a dSLR tripod socket). The other handle end has a cold shoe attachment (e.g., for a video light) plus one 3/8"-16 and three 1/4"-20 female connectors for accessory attachment. The handle sides include two 1/4"-20 female connectors for accessory attachment and two M4 female connectors for strap attachment.The package includes the handle plus a hex wrench and six screw-in locating pins for the ARRL locating holes located at the 1/4"-20 standard male connector handle end.

I should start by saying I don't have a DJU Ronin (anything). But, I do have a fair amount of camera "rigging" that I use for panoramas and macro photography. I always use set-ups like that on a tripod.I saw this handle and thought "why not?" I had several ideas of how it could be useful. My first attempt has been this "handheld semi-macro with lighting" rig—obviously not usable for true macro, where you need exact positioning to get the focus where you need it. The balance isn't too bad.The handle is really well made, and is close to being symmetrical. I've found that for me, it's more comfortable with the finger scallops towards my palm, (in other words, backwards)—there's just a bit more meat for my fingers to wrap around. The main structure is all machined aluminum, and the front and rear grips are a dense urethane (probably about as cushy as a pencil eraser). When you tighten the knob, it attaches very well—and this would be even better if it was on something (like, I assume the Ronin) that has receptacles for the two small swing loaded pins that stick up on either side of the attachment screw.What I think of as the bottom has a flash shoe slot in it, along with 3 1/4 inch and 1 3/8 inch threaded holes. Like I said, this handle is very adaptable.

The handle arrived and it has quite a pungent smell to it. It's grippy but it's also sticky. Could be excess glue or something on it that is causing the smell. It's not as versatile as some other handles I have used. It's just a solid handle to grip and have more points of contact with your gimbal. Not really compatible with other brands of gimbals. Still a good value.

I do a lot of cinematography work every week, so using a gimbal is a critical part of what we do. We actually own two DJI RS-2 gimbals. After installing this handle grip to the extension on my gimbal, it completely changed the effort needed to carry the gimbal.I will share below my experience with this handle using the DJI RS-2 gimbal, but you can of course use this handle on various types of rigs, including shoulder rigs and camera cages.This particular order only comes with the handle, so if you don't already have an extension to attached to it, I highly recommend the extension that LEFTFOTO sells as well. We ordered one setup that came with both the extension and the handle and for the other gimbal we already had an extension, so we just needed the handle.But first let me start off by saying the machine work on this metal looks absolutely beautiful and very professional. In fact, when you install this handle on your gimbal, it will look like it actually is part of the gimbal and came from DJI.One thing that is critically important on adding any accessory like this, is that there is no play where it attaches. If there is any play, it will cause wear on the metal and eventually break. When we installed the handle directly to the extension, it was nice and secure and tight. The tightening knob was very smooth and precise.Once you add this handle to the extension and install it on the gimbal, the grip and extension supports the mid-region of the gimbal with one hand, while your other hand holds the tripod extension, and you then have an incredible balance with the gimbal that you wouldn't previously have. And the effort that your arms and wrists exert reduce by about 50% because the weight is being shared by two hands instead of just one.Of course as you can see from the photos, there is multiple threaded hole options on the handle to add accessories.I would say for anybody out there that owns a DJI RS-2 Gimbal, this is an absolute must-have to go with your gimbal. You won't regret it and it will definitely make life easier for you in your gimbal work.
