I'm 52 and have been turning wrenches since high school. I've never gotten certified, but I have a lot of experience and knowledge regarding automotive work. This steering shaft has two bolts that hold it in place with retention grooves on the tabs that each clamp attaches to, so removal and reinstallation is pretty straight forward. That said, be prepared for a problem with fitment, because it's cheaply made, that's why it's $43. The upper clamp wasn't quite willing to go into place without some grease and force after disconnecting it from the lower shaft sectionand forcing the clamp open a little bit, and on both clamps the threaded hole was slightly off and didn't line up properly across the bolt retention grooves. The clamp bolts that came with the shaft are not tapered so they absolutely would not seat into the threaded hole after being passed through the retention grooves on the tabs, so I had to use the old tapered bolts, and still had trouble getting them to take to the threaded side without some force. In fact, the bottom clamp bolt re-threaded itself on the way through. The steering shaft feels great now that it's in, there's no play and it's really solid, but be ready for a 30 minute job to possibly end up taking 4 hours, and you may need to do some refab work or just use brute force to get it on. Bottom line, if you're not willing to risk dealing with the part giving you a problem, then spend the extra money for a Dorman. The amount of effort this took was not worth the cheap price and would definitely never buy it again let alone recommend it to anyone. I think I invented a new cuss word installing this thing.

This was drilled and tapped on an angle so had to modify the rack to make it work so I could get the vehicle off the lift

I have a Dodge Durango 4wd and this product was supposed to fit. The lower portion fit just fine but the upper portion is just cut too small to ever fit. I will be returning and getting a different brand.
