These are great for people w/ range of motion issues.They do indeed fit on standard large "american" style bottom brackets found on most old/department store BMX, Beach Cruiser, or Mountain bikes with wheels of 20" or larger. Smaller wheeled kids bikes often use a different hex drive rather than pin drive crank. This works the typical style "pin drive" chain rings, available from 28 to 52 teeth. This "Astabula" style crank system is damn near bullet proof and easy to overhaul w/ just a flat head screw driver and largish crescent wrench, and way cheaper to experiment with different size cranks and chain rings. Very easy to change out. If one was trying to build up his range of motion, say after a surgery he could move from this to a 4" to 4.5 to 5"... for much less than buying a series new crank arms on most 3 piece type.
