I wouldn't trust it with more than five pounds on the road...I bought it to mount a leather trunk because I couldn't find a trunk mount for a V-Star.I was concerned that the original bolts wouldn't be strong enough, so I drilled out the holes and installed larger bolts. That seemed to make it strong enough to hold the trunk, but after a few weeks, the mounting brackets are splitting/ cracking. Since I'm having trouble finding a better option, I'll probably use some steel plate to re-enforce it and change the way it mounts.

Installed on my 2006 Yamaha V Star Classic 1100 with supplied hardware in about 10 minutes and everything fit great. Looks great and the finish is good for the price point. I got way more than expected with this rack. It holds my Saddleman one day trip pack perfectly. Could'nt of asked for much more for the money. Highly recommend!

Didn't fit the bike. After installing it on the bike(we had to "muscle" it on) within a couple months the welds broke, and we almost lost our $300 trunk. I do not recommend this product, unless it's just for looks

I installed this rack as a base for a travel trunk on my 09 1100 Custom. I believe this rack was intended to bolt on with the existing factory backrest which I removed. The result was that the rack did not bolt as tightly to the factory base as I would have liked. That said the rack is good quality and I would recommend more if you aren’t adding a universal trunk with backrest.

I read reviews where this item didn't fit their bike and the angle was bad. I took a chance on this rather than spend $125 to $200 for a sissy bar with rack. It only took a couple days for delivery. Nice chrome and found no sharp edges or flaws. I knew this rack was 1/2" too small. A couple of rags and a pair of parrot nose pliers, I had no difficulty making the adjustment. 10 minutes, it was on my bike. No scratches, no blemishes. The rack angle can be adjusted 4" ,toward the end of the fender, up or down before final tightening. I even sat on it after tight. I'm 150lbs. No movement. Great buy. Almost too pretty to hide it with my very large sissy bar bag. We put 200 miles on the bike yesterday, bag fully loaded. Didn't move one iota. PERFECT!!!

I put this rack on my wife's 06 Vstar 650 Classic. Fit was not perfect, I had to spread the "arms" where it bolts to the back rest to get it wide enough to meet up with the rest (1/4 inch). But after doing so, it worked quite well and looks very nice. I must say, though, that a little extra time could be put into insuring the edges of the rack (underside) aren't sharp. We bungeed camping gear on this rack and I was a bit concerned about it cutting into them. I took a file to the edges and rounded them slightly (very quick job).Other then that, great price!
